Western Michigan Broncos vs. 2025 WMU/Vredevelt Invitational?
KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan men's tennis team wrapped up hosting the 2025 WMU/Vredevelt Invitational over the weekend.
The Broncos battled against Butler, Cleveland State, DePaul, Notre Dame and Marquette at Sorensen Courts.
SINGLES
In the opening round of singles action
Ashton Adesoro and Alex Antonopolous each picked up wins. Desoro defeated UND's Patrick 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 1-0 (10-7). Antonopolous took down DePaul's Almedia, also in three sets 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 1-0 (13-11).
WMU faired much better during the second round of singles, with all eight Broncos picking up wins.
Chen-Hui Ho finished the weekend with two singles wins after defeating DePaul's Medica 6-3, 6-4. Adesoro picked up his third win after taking down the Blue Demons' Hadzaibdic 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 1-0 (10-8).
Oscar Corwin and
Jack Davison also earned two wins on the weekend after Corwin defeated Roegner from Marquette in two sets 6-3, 6-1. Davison had to go to seven twice to beat MU's St. Laurent 7-5, 7-6 (10-1).
DOUBLES
In doubles action, the Broncos opened up the weekend with four wins on Friday. Adesoro and Davison beat Medica and Leitner from DePaul, 7-5. Corwin and Antonopolous defeated Notre Dame's Becker and Lee, 7-5.
Drew Evans and Ho took down Moser and Anwar from DePaul, 6-3, while
Matej Kajzer and Drew Moriarty picked up a 6-4 win over Blagoev and Coppage from Marquette.
Adesoro and Davison picked up their second win on Saturday, downing Baldi and Singh from Butler 6-0. Corwin and Antonopolous also picked up a second win after defeating Patrick and Balthazor from UND, 6-3. Ho and Evans picked up their second win after beating BU's Shirley and William, 6-3.
Later on in the day it was Corwin and Antonopolous tallying their third win after a 7-5 victory over Baldi and Singh. Kajzer and Moriarty then earned their second win with a 6-4 decision over Shirley and William.
The Broncos are back in action at the Notre Dame Invitational, beginning Sept. 26.
Toledo Rockets vs. Everybody vs. Cancer Invitational
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo men's tennis team wrapped up its first competition of the fall season hosting the Everybody vs. Cancer Invite.
Lucas Britez led the team, posting a 6-0 record across singles and doubles play.
The Rockets hosted Case Western Reserve, Holy Cross (Ind.), Wayne State and Youngstown State in the three-day event.
Britez paired up with newcomer
Alejandro Gonzalez for a 3-0 doubles record while Gonzalez went 3-1 in singles play to pick up his first win as a Rocket.
Freshman
AJ Sidoti also earned his first win as a Rocket, combining with teammate Josh Mackey for a 3-0 record. Junior
Cole Cozens paired up with
Matias Olivero to win their first doubles match of the fall. Cozens then posted a 3-0 record in singles play, all of which were straight-set victories.
