Minutewomen Tabbed Favorites in 2025 Field Hockey Preseason Poll

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Mid-American Conference announced on Wednesday the 2025 Field Hockey Preseason Poll, as voted on by the league's ten head coaches. Newcomer to the conference, UMass, was selected as the preaseason favorite to take home the regular season title, as well as the MAC Tournament Championship.

The Minutewomen received 77 points and seven first place votes, while James Madison earned a pair of first place votes and a total of 71 points to finish second in the poll. 

Seven-time defending tournament champion, Miami, was picked third with one first place vote and a total of 68 points, followed by App State, Kent State, Ball State, Ohio, Longwood, Bellarmine, and Central Michigan.

UMass, ranked fourteenth in the NFHCA DI Preseason Poll, will look to make an immediate impact on the conference, while James Madison enters the 2025 season coming off of a share of its first regular season MAC championship. Miami will chase its eighth straight tournament title, and at least a share of the regular season championship for the eighth consecutive season.

The MAC Field Hockey season begins on Friday, August 29th. The season will culminate with the MAC Field Hockey Championship, hosted by James Madison University on November 5-8 in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
