Akron Claims MAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship

ATHENS, Ohio -- Akron claimed its third consecutive MAC Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship, finishing with 187 points in a hard-fought title race over Kent State (167.25) and Eastern Michigan (156). The Zips used dominant depth across field events, sprints, and distance to seal the title.
 
Owen Wendl won both the shot put and discus, while Andrew Styles captured the 400m and Moses Lekokei doubled in the 10,000m and 5,000m.

Kent State’s Jaheim Jones swept the 100m (10.44) and 200m (20.73) and was one of the most dominant sprinters of the meet. The Golden Flashes also got key wins from Ayden Bath in the decathlon and 110m hurdles.
 
Eastern Michigan's Kian Wiles won the 1500 meters with a time of 3:48.96, while teammate Lachlan Cornelius took the 800 meters in 1:50.13. Akron's Moses Lekokei dominated the 5000 meters, finishing in 14:18.33.

Eastern Michigan made a statement in the relays, winning both the 4x100 (41.05) and 4x400 (3:08.53) to round out a strong all-around performance.
