Bassett and Baker Named Week 16 Wrestlers of the Week

Bassett secured bonus points in a 12-1 major decision over Ronald Dimmerling to help lead the Bald Eagles to a 29-14 victory over Cleveland State on Thursday. With the win, the Bald Eagles extended their streak to nine matches and improved to a perfect 6-0 in MAC duals. The win also helped Lock Haven move to 13-5 overall on the season. At the Matt-Town Open II, hosted by Lock Haven, Bassett won the championship at 174 pounds after going 4-0 with a tech fall and two major decisions. Lock Haven's 13 wins are the most in a season since Lock Haven won 17 (17-4) duals during the 2001-02 season.

Markel Baker, Northern Illinois, Redshirt-Sophomore
Markel Baker had the biggest upset on the evening at 133 pounds, taking down No. 2 Zeth Romney of Cal Poly. Baker trailed for a majority of the bout before getting a late takedown in the third period for the 7-6 decision victory. This was Baker's first win over a ranked opponent this season as the NIU Huskies took down No. 22 (Intermat) Cal Poly for their fourth straight dual win.
