Akron vs. Zippy Invitational | Day 2 Results
AKRON, Ohio — Akron delivered a strong second day at the Zippy Invitational on Friday, highlighted by an event win, multiple top-three finishes and depth across finals.
The Zips maintained their first-place status with 684 points after the second day. Cornell is second with 653 points and Buffalo is in third with 649 points.
Helena Lalkovic opened the night with a runner-up finish in the women's 500 freestyle, clocking 4:52.49 to lead three Zips in the A final.
Elle Couture followed in third in 4:53.03, and
Maggie Patterson placed sixth in 4:56.81.
Ava Withey added a win in the B final with a 4:57.05, while
Nina Shulik took eighth in the C final at 5:09.31.
Avery Knight earned Akron's lone individual victory of the evening, winning the 200 IM in 2:01.11.
Claire Cox also scored in the B final, finishing fourth in 2:04.03. The Zips placed three in the C and D finals combined, led by
Madelyn Bosler (2:04.75) and
Efthymia Mazaraki (2:06.33).
Akron dominated the 50 freestyle with four of the top five spots.
Callie Parkes won the event in 22.35, followed by
Ada Szwabinska in second (22.45).
Cora Spetz took third in 23.08, and
Hannah Trainer finished fourth in 23.22.
Brienne Trumpower added an eighth-place finish in 23.60.
Addy Soehnlen also swam in the D final, taking sixth in 24.24.
In 3-meter diving,
Elizabeth Noble placed third with 276.20 points.
Akron closed the night with a convincing win in the 400 medley relay.
Abbey Cronin, Cox, Parkes and Szwabinska combined for a 3:36.20 finish, touching more than five seconds clear of the field.

BGSU vs. Zippy Invitational | Day 2 Results
AKRON, Ohio — With a strong showing on the boards, Bowling Green climbed to fourth place with 446 points on Friday as the Zippy Invitational reached its midway point.
The Falcons opened the night with the 500 freestyle, where
Caroline Toledo placed 11th in the B final in 5:01.44.
Morgan Sokol followed in 15th with a time of 5:05.79. In the 200 IM,
Madison Bond added a 15th-place finish in 2:05.69.
Bowling Green posted strong sprint results in the 50 freestyle.
Samia Becdach won the B final in 23.27, while
Grace Bodrock took 13th in 23.82.
The highlight of the session came on the boards for BGSU. Senior
Natalia Mayorga won the three meter dive with a score of 316.10, exceeding the D1 A zone qualifying score.
The Falcons closed the night with the 400 medley relay. The quartet of
Emily McNicol,
Lauren Jablonski, Bodrock and Becdach finished fifth in 3:43.84. The team of
Bella Treib,
Corine Rieskamp,
Bridget Kurtzweil and
Sierra Newton added a ninth-place finish in 3:49.58.
Bowling Green trails Akron (684 points), Cornell (653 points) and Buffalo (649 points) with two days to go. Competition resumes tomorrow at 9 a.m. with the 100 butterfly.
Buffalo vs. Zippy Invitational | Day 2 Results
AKRON, Ohio – The University at Buffalo swimming and diving program competed in day two of the Zippy Invite on Friday. The Bulls finished the second day of the meet ranking third of seven teams in the women's standings.
DAY TWO DIVING
The Bulls earned four of the top six spots in the three-meter diving finals.
Maggie Meyers led the team with a second-place finish (278.80).
Adele Melamud earned fourth (270.75),
Presley Dorsett placed fifth (265.80) and
Mallory Hanna finished sixth (256.40).
The Bulls have had four or more divers place inside the top seven in each event this season. Of the nine events the team has competed in, the Bulls have taken 53 of the top 63 spots on the leaderboard.
In the preliminary round, Melamud posted a first-place finish and a personal record score of 321.55 to enter the program's all-time top 10 for the event. The freshman rose to seventh in the program ranks.
The Bulls earned five of the top nine spots in the preliminary round. Dorsett earned fourth (280.10), Hanna finished fifth (260.90), Meyers took sixth (259.95) and
Daphne Fox placed ninth (238.80).
Sophie Meuwissen (227.80) placed 12
th, putting six Buffalo divers inside the top 12 in the field of 21 competitors.
DAY TWO SWIMMING
"We had many great swims tonight," said Head Coach
Andy Bashor. "It's exciting to watch our athletes make changes from the morning and get great results. We look forward to competing again tomorrow."
Ava Cunningham placed fifth in the A-Finals of the 500-yard freestyle with a season best time of 4:56.15. Cunningham qualified for the finals of the event with a preliminary round time of 4:59.46.
Elise McCaul placed second in the B-Finals of the 500-yard freestyle, placing 10
th in the event field of 33 swimmers with a time of 5:01.09.
Karen Austin also competed in the B-Finals, placing eighth in the heat with a time of 5:08.09 to put three Bulls inside the top 16.
Bella Forsman posted a top three finish in the 200-yard individual medley, taking third in the field of 59 swimmers with a time of 2:02.20. Forsman qualified for the A-Finals with a first-place finish in the preliminary round (2:02.45).
Grace Rider also competed in the A-Finals, placing eighth overall with a time of 2:04.91.
Kamilla Nemes earned a second-place finish in the B-Finals, putting three Bulls inside the top 10 with a time of 2:02.89.
Nicole Aguilar (13
th, 2:04.28) and
Pinar Donmez (18
th, 2:02.36) also competed in the finals. Aguilar's time was a season best.
Hattie Wasmuth rounded out the Bulls' qualifiers for the 200-yard individual medley, making the cut for the C-Finals with a preliminary round time of 2:06.92. The freshman placed 22
nd overall in the field of 59 swimmers with a time of 2:05.93.
Aguilar also qualified for and competed in the A-Finals of the 50-yard freestyle. The senior placed sixth overall in the field of 68 swimmers with a time of 23.41. The time was a new personal record. Freshman
Alex Bulat trailed closely with a time of 23.52 to place seventh. The freshman's preliminary round time of 23.51 was a personal best.
Amanda Jurgelon competed in the B-Finals of the 50-yard freestyle for the Bulls, placing 15
th overall in the field of 68 with a time of 23.94. The junior's preliminary round time of 23.80 was a season best.
Jillian Strine placed 20
th for the Bulls too, posting a time of 23.85 to put four Buffalo swimmers inside the top 20 to place.
The Bulls rounded out day two with a third-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay.
Vivian Roy, Donmez, Aguilar and Forsman completed the event in 3:42.19, a season best time for the program.
