MAC Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week
Mallory Camryn, Senior, Forward, Central Michigan
Ontario, Canada (Saltfleet District High)
Mallory Camryn led the Chippewas offense in a weekend sweep of Bellarmine and in-state rival Michigan State. Camryn recorded the opening goals in both games, each within the first five minutes of the opening whistle. Camryn delivered the assist on the game-winning goal against the Spartans, feeding a fellow Chippewa in the circle near the midway-line, leading to CMU’s first win over Michigan State since 2007.
MAC Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week
Berta Mata, Senior, Midfielder, Miami
Barcelona, Spain (Montcau-La Mola)
Berta continues to organize the Miami defense, and once again helped the RedHawks limit a conference opponent offensively. Behind Mata, Miami allowed only three shots, with only one on goal, and three penalty corners. The RedHawks put together their sixth shutout in MAC play, which leads the league, behind the defense of Mata. At the other end of the field, she contributed a goal and three assists to help her lead the MAC in assists.
