MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.—Led by six double figure scorers, Central Michigan shot 63.4 percent from the floor and jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in defeating NCAA Division III Adrian 112-67 Tuesday night at McGuirk Arena. With the win, Central Michigan improves to 3-4 on the year, while Adrian drops to 1-5.
Next, up the Chippewas will play at Loyola (Ill.) on Tuesday, Dec. 2. Tipoff is at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT in Chicago.
The 112 points ranks as the 19th most points scored in a single game in school history. The last time the Chippewas scored over 100 points was on Dec. 1, 2024 when it finished with 115 vs. Purdue Northwest.
The Chippewas converted 44-69 field goals, outrebounded the Bulldogs 48-34 and had 28 assists and a season-high 13 steals.
Rodney Johnson, Jr. led the Chippewas with 18 points on 9-11 shooting in 20 minutes. Logan McIntire finished with 17 points on 7-9 shooting and 3-4 from 3-point range and Tamario Adley scored 14 points and registered team-highs in rebounds (8) and assists (7). Other double figure scorers included Nick Millen (13 points, seven rebounds), Phat Phat Brooks (11 points, three steals), and Nathan Claerbaut (10 points, five rebounds).
All 11 players who saw action scored in the game for Central Michigan.
Central Michigan took control early in the game with an 18-0 run to go up 30-9 at the 11:21 mark. Johnson started the rally with a dunk, Claerbaut scored on a layup, Will Ashford added a layup, Brooks and Keenan Garner both followed with layups, Johnson scored on a nice drive and post play. Then Kayden Nation and McIntire closed out the run with layups. After that run, Central Michigan was in total control.
The Chippewas built their largest first half lead, 28 points (59-31) with 18 seconds to go in the half and led 59-35 at halftime.
Central Michigan outscored Adrian 53-32 in the second half.
For the second straight game, Central Michigan started Nick Mullen and Rodney Johnson, Jr. at forward, Claerbaut at center, and Logan McIntire and Tamario Adley at guard.
Adrian was led by Seth Logan, who scored 23 points and hit 5-13 3-pointers. Darrius Welch added 16 points and eight rebounds for the Bulldogs.
