Kent State's Gillespie Named USBWA Oscar Robertson Honored Player of the Week

KENT, Ohio – Senior forward Delrecco Gillespie has been named an honored player of the week by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association. The USBWA has expanded its national weekly honors program to now highlight five national Division I players of the week each week in conjunction with the Oscar Robertson Trophy.

Just five games into the 2025-2026 season, Gillespie has posted a double-double in all five including another three in a row this past week. He is tied for first in the nation in double doubles. Gillespie tallied 12 points and 12 rebounds against UNCW (Nov. 10), 30 points (a new career high) and 13 rebounds against Cleveland State (Nov. 15), and 26 points and 17 rebounds against Wright state (Nov. 16). Over three Kent State victories including two in The Greenbrier Tip-Off, he totaled 68 points and 42 boards while converting on 26 of 41 field goal attempts.

This marks Kent State's first USBWA weekly award of the 2025-2026 season. The full list of honorees for the week of Nov. 16 is below.
