MAC Announces Week 9 Football Players of the Week

MAC Football Offensive Player of the Week
Parker Navarro, Ohio, QB    
Graduate Student, Tempe, Ariz. (Desert Vista)   

Navarro led the Bobcats in their first road game victory of the season, defeating the Eastern Michigan Eagles 28-21 on Saturday (Oct. 25). The graduate student set multiple single-game highs, including completions (23), completion percentage (82.1) and passing yards (315). Notably, this matchup marked Navarro's first game passing for over 300 yards. The quarterback threw two touchdowns against EMU, both of which were caught by junior wide receiver Chase Hendricks.



MAC Football Defensive Player of the Week
Melvin Spriggs, Akron, LB   
Soph., Fredericksburg, Va. (Saint Michael the Archangel)  
       
Melvin Spriggs anchored the Zips defense in a 24-16 win over Buffalo. Spriggs paced the Zips defense with 14 tackles, including 8 solo stops. He also led the squad in tackles for loss with 3.5 takedowns for loss of 15 yards. In addition, Spriggs collected half of the Zips total sacks, registering 2.5 sacks for 14 yards of loss.



MAC Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Dom Dzioban, Miami, K        
6th Year, Frankfort, Ill. (Lincoln Way East)  
                                                               
Dom Dzioban was perfect on Saturday, connecting on all four of his field goal attempts in Miami's 26-17 win over Western Michigan. The sixth-year senior made kicks of 44, 24, 29 and 51 yards. His 51-yarder, which matched his career-best, sealed the Miami victory with under two minutes to play.
