Week 7 Volleyball Players of the Week Awarded to Cardinals, Bobcats

Offensive Player of the Week
Carson Tyler, Outside Hitter, Ball State
Sophomore outside Carson Tyler led all MAC players with 57 kills and a 4.75 kill-per-set average, helping the Cardinals remain undefeated in league play at 7-0. In fact, her career-high 29 kills in Friday’s five-set win over Toledo were the most in a MAC match this season and the second-most by a MAC player in a match this season. Tyler, who hit .272 (57-17-147) on the week, has smashed double-digit kills in all 19 matches this season and in 25 straight outings, counting the final six matches last season. Along with her solid offensive play, Tyler turned in a pair of double-doubles, while averaging 2.17 digs-per-set for the week. She also served up a team-best six aces over BSU’s three matches, while adding seven total blocks.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Sophie Ledbetter, Libero, Ball State
Sophomore libero Sophie Ledbetter led the Ball State defense and ranked fourth in the league with a 4.42 digs-per-set average to help the Cardinals remain undefeated in league play at 7-0. She recorded double-digit digs in all three matches, including 21 in Saturday’s four-set victory over Toledo. She also served up four aces on the week, with three coming in Saturday’s finale.
 
Setter of the Week
Kendall White, Ohio
Senior Kendall White was the backbone of Ohio's offense as the Bobcats went 3-0 against MAC opponents this week. As Ohio's main setter, White compiled 123 assists, averaging 12.30 assists through 10 sets of competition. She also recorded six kills, two aces, 35 digs (3.50), 7.0 blocks and 12.0 points. White was vital as the Bobcats earned their first MAC win of the season. In the team's 3-0 win at Kent State on Tuesday, White 29 assists, two aces, nine digs, 5.0 blocks and 7.0 points. White was once again a top performer in Ohio's 3-0 sweep over Miami on Friday. The senior led the team with 46 assists on 88 total attacks. White also recorded seven digs, one block and 1.5 points. The senior was a standout player for Ohio as they concluded the week with a 3-1 victory over Miami on Saturday. White recorded a double-double with 48 assists and a season-high 19 digs. She also finished with three kills, one block and 3.5 points.
