DEKALB, IL- Eastern Michigan's Women's Track Team leads the team standings after day one with a total team score of 22 points after three scored events.
Eastern Michigan's Esme Davies finished second in the women's 10,000 meter run to score 8 team points for the Eagles. Miranda Cadwell marked a third place finish in the women's hammer throw, 186-11 (56.99m). Erica King also helped boost her teams rankings by securing a seventh place finish in the women's javelin.
The Bulls opened the conference championships on a strong note, earning a gold medal, four podium finishes and a new school record.
Jenna Reid earned a gold medal for Buffalo in the women's javelin, setting a new season best mark of 44.92 meters. The graduate student's throw ranks third in UB outdoor history. Reid is the third woman in program history to win the javelin throw at MAC outdoor championships, joining
Scilla Benussi (2023) and Vanessa Roelofson (2007 & 2008).
Benussi returned to the javelin throw at outdoor championships, the event she took gold in last year, this time placing third and earning the fifth MAC medal of her career. The senior had a season best throw of 39.83 meters.
The Toledo women's track & field team started the evening with a second-place finish from
Nora Hark in the javelin and capped it with a gold medal for
Mercy Kinyanjui in the 10,000 meters with a time of 34:29.19.
