Cleveland, Ohio – The University of Toledo was honored by the Mid-American Conference with the Reese Trophy as the top men's athletic program during the 2023-24 academic year. This marks the third consecutive year that the Rockets have won the all-sports award.
During the 2023-24 academic year, Toledo competed in six men’s sports and won the basketball regular season title and earned the west division title in football. The Rockets also claimed the tennis tournament title.
The Rockets also claimed the Jacoby Trophy, which is awarded to the top women’s athletic program. This marks the first time since 2019 (Miami) that the same institution has won both the Reese and Jacoby Trophy’s in the same year.
For the Reese Trophy, points are awarded based on each school’s finish, with the overall total divided by the number of sports sponsored by each school. The men’s trophy is named for former MAC Commissioner David E. Reese. Reese was the first-ever MAC Commissioner and served the conference from its inception in 1946 until 1964.
