WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Toledo senior Barend Botha concluded his Rocket career on Wednesday by tying for 60th place at the 2024 NCAA West Lafayette Regional. Botha shot a six-over par 78 today to finish with 13-over par 229 (72-79-78) on the par-72, 7,461-yard Kampen Course at Purdue's Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex.
Botha, a native of South Africa, could never get things going today after posting a double bogey and bogey on his second and third hole. He did register birdies on the 15th and 16th holes to close out his round by going two-under in his final four holes.
"Barend had a tough start but kept fighting throughout his entire round," Head Coach Jeff Roope said. "He had a few birdie opportunities where his putts just missed. We are extremely fortunate to have had Barend as a part of our program over the last four years and wish him all the best in his future career."
Vanderbilt captured the team title with an impressive 54-hole score of 24-under par 840. The host Boilermakers finished second with an 11-under par 853 and advanced to the NCAA Championships in Carlsbad, Calif. on May 24-29 along with Florida (860, -4), Arizona (861, -3), and New Mexico (862, -2)
Wisconsin's Cameron Huss was the lone individual to advance after winning a playoff by notching a birdie on the fifth playoff hole.
