Chippewas Take Day One Lead at MAC Wrestling Championships

Kent, OH – Two wrestlers booked trips to the championship finals to lead the Central Michigan University men's wrestling team to 97.5 points, as the Chippewas sit atop the team standings after day one of the 2024 Mid-American Conference Wrestling Championships at Kent State University. 

The duo of Corbyn Munson and Alex Cramer led the way for the Chippewas and will all be in action tomorrow looking to bring home individual MAC titles.

The top seed in the MAC at 149 pounds, Munson opened his day in style recording a second-period fall over Edinboro's Colin Roberts at the 4:29 mark. He then gathered another fall at 4:51 in his quarterfinal match, and a tight decision victory in the semifinals to advance and will challenge Rider's Quinn Kinner in tomorrow afternoon's final.
 
Another one of the Chippewas' finalists came from Cramer, who entered as the top seed 174-pounder. Cramer opened the tournament with a bye in the first round. In the quarterfinals he tech falled SIUE's Dominic Lopez in 5:37. In the semis, Cramer continued to impress with an 11-0 major decision victory over John Worthing of Clarion. In the 174-pound final, Cramer battles Rider's Michael Wilson.
 
The 2024 MAC Wrestling Championships conclude on Saturday, March 9 beginning at Noon ET from Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center. Saturday's schedule begins with consolation quarterfinals at 11:30 am ET and consolation semifinals at 1:00 PM ET, followed by the Championship Finals at 3 pm ET (ESPN+).
