Abigail Daniel, Senior, Akron
Abigail Daniel was one of the driving forces for the Zips' first-place finish at the Zippy Invitational. Abigail took gold in seven events and helped break two meet records while posting the 20th fastest time in the NCAA in the 100-yard fly (51.98). Daniel also helped post the 21st fastest time in the NCAA in the 800-yard free relay and the 24th fastest time in the 400-yard MR. She also recorded or was part of a relay squad that recorded the fastest time this season in the MAC in the 100-yard fly (51.98), 200-yard free relay (1:30.11), 400-yard MR (3:34.22), 200-yard IM (1:57.28), 200-yard MR (1:37.33) and 800-yard free relay (7:12.66). Abigail helped Akron set meet records in the 200-yard MR (23.09) as the relay squad swam a time of 1:37.33. She also propelled the 400-yard MR (52.47) squad to a meet record of 3:34.22. She set NCAA B times in the 100 fly (51.98) and 200 IM (1:57.28). As part of the relay squads, she swam 52.47 in the 400 MR, 22.30 in the 200 free relay, 23.09 in the 200 MR, and 1:49.09 in the 800 free relay.
Payton Kelly, Junior, Ball State
Junior Payton Kelly swept the freestyle sprint events at the Miami Invitational and scored a team-high 60 points over the three-day meet … Individually, she started by winning the 50 freestyle Thursday night with the fastest time in the MAC so far this season at 22.52 … In Friday’s finals, she captured the top spot in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:47.77, which ranks second in the league so far this season … Finally, in Saturday’s final session, she took the top spot in the 100 freestyle at 49.06 which also ranks second among all MAC swimmers this season. Kelly also swam anchor for all five on BSU’s top relays, helping the Cardinals take second in the 200 medley relay (1:41.02), third in the 200 freestyle (1:31.95) and 400 freestyle (3:23.29) relays, fourth in the 800 freestyle relay (7:31.98) and fifth in the 400 medley relay (3:42.94).
Diver of the Week
Marialis Kwak, Senior, Buffalo
Diver Marialis Kwak won both the one-meter (295.20) and three-meter finals (304.95) at Akron’s Zippy Invite, extending her win streak in the diving well to eight straight individual wins since the beginning of the season. Kwak's final score of 304.95 in the three-meter was a season-best. The senior took first place in both preliminary rounds, the one-meter (300.45) and the three-meter (304.70). Kwak was also a member of the Bulls’ first-place team diving trio, scoring 296.80.
