Kent State's Schaffer Leads Flashes in Victory Over Gannon

KENT, Ohio - The Golden Flashes picked up their first win of the season at home over Gannon 23-15.

Blake Schaffer led the way for the Flashes earning a fall in 3:49 over Shane Davidson at 197 lbs. His pin also clinched the dual for Kent State. Billy Meiszner and Trent Thomas both earned major decision wins. Meiszner scored 4 takedowns on his way to defeating Hayden Butterfield 14-4 at 149 lbs. Thomas defeated Gaetano Savelli 12-3, while also scoring 4 takedowns at 184 lbs.  

Others earning wins in today's dual were Eli AshcroftAaron Ferguson, and Ethan Barr. Ashcroft defeated Brock Christan 6-4 at 141 lbs. Aaron Ferguson beat Ethan Richner 9-6 at 157 lbs. Ethan Barr picked up a last-second takedown to defeat Nick Coreno 6-3 at 165 lbs.

Kent State will travel up to East Lansing, Michigan this afternoon to compete Michigan State Open tomorrow. Wrestling will begin at 9:30 AM and fans can follow along on FloWrestling.
