Akron's Freeman Earns Player of the Week Honors

Enrique Freeman recorded a pair of double-doubles and 20+ point, 10+ rebound performances this past week as he helped lead the Zips to a pair of victories to begin the conference schedule and moved into ninth for all-time scoring in Akron history. Freeman scored 22.5 points per game with a 12-of-23 shooting week while going 21-of-24 (.875) from the free throw line. He also recorded his 11th and 12th double-double in the pair of wins.
 
The walking double-double also recorded a pair of 20+ point, 10+ rebound performances and has eight total on the season. Starting MAC play on the road against Northern Illinois, Freeman had a 21-point, 10-rebound performance against the Huskies. Freeman was tied for scoring among all scorers after going 6-of-9 (.667) from the field and 9-of-11 (.818) from the charity stripe. He followed that up with a 24-point, 11-rebound effort against Bowling Green at home. Freeman's 24 points led all scorers after he went an almost perfect 12-of-13 (.923) from the free throw line. Freeman also added four assists and three blocks in the home victory over the Falcons.
 
He is no. 1 in the country in double-doubles (12) and rebounds per game (13.0) while also ranking no. 3 for total rebounds (182), 4th in def rebound per game (9.29), 15th in offensive rebound per game (3.71), 45th in field goal percentage (.582) and 36th in made free throws (73).
