Enrique Freeman and the Akron Zips continue to perform on a high level after a 2-0 week. The Zips began with a 77-66 win at home against Western Michigan on Tuesday before defeating rival Kent State 77-71 on the road to conclude the week. Freeman finished with 21.5 points per game along with 11 rebounds per game and four blocks per game on the week. He tied his career high for blocks in a single game with five coming at Kent on Friday.
 
He started the week with a 20-point, 14-rebound effort against the Broncos where he went 9-of-16 (.562) from the field. Freeman recorded his 15th double-double of the season and 10th 20+point, 10+ rebound performance. The senior forward also added three blocks, one assist, and one steal in the win. Against Kent State, Freeman brought the buckets and the blocks against the Golden Flashes. The Akron big man scored 23 points on an 11-of-16 (.687) shooting performance from the field. He also tied his career-high for blocks with five. Freeman hauled in eight rebounds while adding three steals to his name at Kent State. All five of his blocks came in the second half as he helped the Akron defense combat a Kent State team that tried to pull off the upset on its home court.

Marcus Hill paced the Falcons to two more wins, giving them 12 wins in the last 13 games and seven-straight at home. In total, Hill added two more 20-point games, bringing his season total to nine and his streak to three, while also logging his first double-double of the season with a career-high 11 rebounds in the win over WMU. Hill began the week with 23 points in the win over Miami (OH), including two late layups to push the Falcons in front for the win. As for the game against Western Michigan, Hill posted his first double-double with 28 points and 11 rebounds, including making six straight free throws late in the game to secure the win.
