MAC Announces Week Two Volleyball Awards

East Division Offensive Player of the Week        
Faith Johnson, Akron, Outside Hitter
Faith Johnson led the Zips to a 3-0 showing at the Marshall Invitational last weekend. Akron defeated Morehead State (3-1), Marshall (3-2) and UNC Greensboro (3-0). Johnson floored a team-best 46 kills or 3.83 kills per a set to go along with a .324 hitting percentage. She added five service aces and five blocks for 53.5 total points, while recording a second-best 26 digs. Johnson earned tournament MVP and all-tournament team.
 
East Division Defensive Player of the Week       
Alex Laboy, Bowling Green, Libero
Alex Laboy was a key piece for the Falcons during the Hampton Inn Invitational. She began the tournament by logging her first career double-double, concluding with a team-high 19 digs and 11 assists, both career-highs at the time. Laboy improved her digs total in the last match of the weekend, a 3-1 win over Wright State. Against the Raiders, Laboy tallied a career-high 23 digs while landing a pair of aces. She also posted a .935 serve receive mark with just three errors on 43 receptions.
 
East Division Setter of the Week
Mandy Leigh, Buffalo, Setter
Mandy Leigh helped the Bulls to a 3-0 weekend at the UB Invite as they swept DePaul and Binghamton, while just dropping one set to Montana. The junior setter finished with team-highs with 101 assists and 36 digs, while adding 12 kills, and two blocks. She finished the weekend with a hitting percentage of .391.
 
West Division Offensive Player of the Week
Keona Salesman, Western Michigan, Outside Hitter

Salesman recorded double-digit kills in three of WMU's four matches to help the Broncos improve to 7-0 on the season. The senior totaled 53 kills (3.79/set) on a .389 hitting percentage and totaled 55.0 points (3.93/set) for the week. Salesman opened the week with 11 kills on a .333 hitting percentage in the straight-set win over Michigan. Against UAB, she put down seven kills on a .636 hitting percentage in another WMU sweep. In the final two matches of the week, Salesman racked up 19 kills while hitting .317 against SIUE and 16 kills on a .441 hitting percentage against UIC.
 
West Division Defensive Player of the Week       
Abby Olin, Central Michigan, Middle Blocker
Abby Olin made her debut in McGuirk Arena in the Chippewa Invitational this past weekend where Central Michigan went 3-0 as a team. Olin was an incredible presence at the net where she blocked 20 balls for her team - 12 of those blocks coming in the final game of the weekend against Bradley. Offensively, Olin was also a presence for the Chippewas where she recorded 20 kills. Again in the final game against Bradley, Olin killed 13 balls and hit .357 in the evening.  
 
West Division Setter of the Week
Logan Case, Western Michigan, Setter
Case was instrumental in all four wins as the Broncos improved to 7-0 on the season. The senior handed out 156 assists (11.14/set) to help fuel a Western Michigan attack which hit .270 for the week. Case also added 31 digs (2.21/set) for the week. The Maineville, Ohio, native was named to the UIC Invitational All-Tournament Team over the weekend, helping WMU hit over .300 in two of their three weekend victories, including a season-best .337 in Friday's sweep of UAB.
