MAC Announces Week 3 Volleyball Award Winners

East Division Co-Offensive Player of the Week        
Katrin Trebichavska, Buffalo, Outside Hitter
Senior Katrin Trebichavska led the Bulls offensively this weekend as UB went won the Xavier Invitational with a 2-1 record. The outside hitter was named to the Xavier All-Tournament team after leading the Bulls with 54.5 points, 39 kills, and 12 aces. She averaged 3.55 kills per set. In their opening match of the tournament, the Bulls defeated Missouri 3-0 which marked the program’s first win over an SEC program.
 
East Division Co-Offensive Player of the Week        
Caitlin O’Farrell, Ohio, Middle Blocker
O'Farrell was an instrumental player for the Bobcats as they hosted and competed against three competitive teams this past weekend. Against UTEP, she recorded the winning point in set one and led the team in kills (17). Against NC State, she led the team in kills (19) and points (21.5). Against William & Mary, O'Farrell recorded the match winning point. She also led the team in kills (14) and points (15.5).
 
East Division Defensive Player of the Week       
Bryn Roberts, Kent State, Libero
Bryn Roberts continued her stellar play in the back row, averaging 4.83 digs per set while helping Kent State hold all three opponents below a .175 hitting percentage at the Western New York Invitational. Roberts tallied a season-high 27 digs in a 3-2 win against Canisius and had at least 13 digs in each match.
 
East Division Setter of the Week
Mandy Leigh, Buffalo, Setter
Junior Mandy Leigh had an outstanding weekend for the Bulls at the Xavier Invitational. Over the course of three matches, the Bulls went 2-1 on their way to win the invite. In their opening match of the tournament, the Bulls defeated Missouri 3-0 which marked the program’s first win over an SEC program. Leigh finished the weekend with 110 assists, 26 digs, seven kills, three service aces, and one block. Her performance led to her being named to the Xavier All-Tournament Team. As a team, the Bulls had a hitting percentage of .296 for the weekend.
 
West Division Offensive Player of the Week
Keona Salesman, Western Michigan, Outside Hitter

Salesman continued her hot start to the season, posting three more double-digit kill performances to help the Broncos win the Kennesaw State Invitational. For the weekend, the senior totaled 52 kills (4.33/set) and 53.5 points (4.46/set) on a .339 hitting percentage. Salesman opened the weekend with a career-high 23 kills in Friday's contest against Mississippi State. The Coldwater, Mich., native picked up 12 kills while hitting .324 in a four-set win over Wake Forest on Saturday, and then closed out the week with 17 kills on a blistering .517 hitting percentage in Sunday's sweep of Kennesaw State.
 
West Division Defensive Player of the Week       
Andelyn Simkins, Western Michigan, Libero
Simkins racked up 64 digs (5.33/set) and successfully received 63-of-65 opponent serves (.969) to help the Broncos limit their opponents to a .193 hitting percentage and win the Kennesaw State Invitational over the weekend. In addition to her defensive exploits, Simkins also contributed 12 assists (1.00/set) and four service aces (0.33/set) for WMU. The senior opened the weekend with 29 digs, five assists and a pair of aces on Friday against Mississippi State. She added 17 digs in Saturday's four-set win over Wake Forest and 18 more in Sunday's straight-set win over Kennesaw State.  
 
West Division Setter of the Week
Logan Case, Western Michigan, Setter
Case racked up 139 assists (11.58/set) and added 29 digs (2.42/set) to help WMU capture the Kennesaw State Invitational title over the weekend. On Friday against Mississippi State, Case handed out a season-high 56 assists and added 13 digs for her second double-double of the season. In that contest, she also became the third Bronco in program history to surpass 4,000 career assists. The senior registered 45 assists in Saturday's win over Wake Forest and totaled 38 more in Sunday's straight-set win over Kennesaw State. On Sunday, Case moved up into second on WMU's all-time career assist list.
