CLEVELAND, Ohio – For the seventh time in program history, the University of Toledo has been named the winner of the 2022-23 Mid-American Conference Institutional Academic Achievement Award. For this annual award, the Rockets posted an overall athletic grade point average (GPA) of 3.473 for the 2022-23 academic year based on 379 students in 15 sports.
University of Toledo earned the highest GPAs in football (3.075), men’s basketball (3.275), men’s golf (3.797), and softball (3.756).
"We are extremely honored to receive this award from the Mid-American Conference,” said Toledo Vice President and Director of Athletics Bryan B. Blair. “This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication our student-athletes in the classroom. To win six conference championships and also have the best GPA in the MAC in the same year is truly an amazing accomplishment. Honors like these are a team effort, so I would like to commend our Student-Athlete Support Services (SASS) team, as well as our University faculty, staff, coaches and families who support the academic endeavors of our student-athletes.”
The honor is presented annually to the MAC institution which achieves the highest overall institutional GPA for student-athletes competing in institutionally sponsored sports for the academic year.
