CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Mid-American Conference Women's Soccer Head Coaches have made their preseason predictions for the 2023 season. Reigning MAC Champion Buffalo was selected to take home the regular season title and tournament championship.
The Bulls received 112 points and seven first place votes, while Western Michigan earned three first place votes and a total of 104 points to finish second in the poll.
Ball State was picked to place third in the poll, followed by Bowling Green, Miami, Kent State, Ohio, Northern Illinois, Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan, Toledo and Akron.
Buffalo returns 16 players from the 2022 squad that won the MAC regular season and tournament titles, accomplishing that feat for just the second time in program history. The Bulls set a new program record with a 17-game unbeaten streak, tied the program record for shutouts with 14 and led the nation in goals against average.
The MAC women’s soccer season begins on Thursday, August 17th, while conference play is set to begin on Thursday, September 21st. The season will culminate with the MAC Women’s Soccer Championship, which takes place October 29 (Quarterfinals), November 2 (Semifinals) and November 5 (Finals).
