Kent State Wins 24th Consecutive Women's Golf Championship

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Kent State Golden Flashes clinched their 24th consecutive Mid-American Conference Women's Golf Championship on Sunday afternoon at Kalamazoo Country Club. Kent State shot 279 (-9) in the final round for an overall score of 875 (+11).

In addition to the team title, the Flashes also reclaimed the individual crown, as freshman Leon Takagi shot rounds of 73, 73 and a team-low 69 on Sunday for a final score of 215 (-1).
 
Kent State’s Mayka Hoogeboom finished in second while fellow Golden Flash Hester Sicking ended the championship in fifth to pace KSU. Hoogeboom and Sicking each ended the weekend with a final round of 70 (-2) to bring their total scores to 219 (+3) and 223 (+7), respectively.
 
The 2023 Sportswoman of the Year was awarded to Kayla Davis of Bowling Green for her positive rapport with competitors and fellow teammates throughout the year.
