MAC Announces Women's Tennis Players of the Week

Women's Singles Player of the Week
Cassie Alcala, Toledo, Junior

Toledo picked up two more wins this weekend, extending its winning streak to four matches, to improve to 11-3, 3-0 MAC. Cassie Alcala clinched both match points from the No. 1 singles court for UT this weekend. Alcala trailed in the beginning of both of her sets vs. NIU's Erika Dimitriev but came back to win each set by a 6-2 decision, her first two-set victory since Feb. 10. Alcala then went to hand Mariya Polishchuck her first loss for the clinch against BSU. Alcala extended her winning streak to four matches, and her conference winning streak to nine matches dating back to last April. The Rockets swept the Huskies 7-0 on Friday afternoon and dethrowned the reigning MAC Champions, Ball State 5-2 on Sunday afternoon.
 
Women’s Doubles Team of the Week
Catherine Denysiewicz-Slowek/Laura Rico, Miami, Sophomore/Junior
Rico and Denysiewicz-Slowek defeated both opponents at No. 1 this past week bringing the RedHawks to a win over two major MAC competitors, Bowling Green, and Western Michigan. The doubles team secured their wins taking the point at 6-1 and 6-2.
