Tommy Curran, Northern Illinois, R-Freshman, 149 lbs
Tommy Curran went 2-0 on the day as the Huskies split action at the Boilermaker Duals, hosted by Purdue. The redshirt freshman opened his day, pinning Jackson Hoover of UIndy with a fall time of 2:39. Curran’s win by fall was his second win by fall this season. Curran battled with Purdue’s Marcos Polanco to a 10-8 decision victory as he was one of three Huskies to go 2-0 on the day.
Co-East Wrestler of the Week
DJ McGee, George Mason, R-Freshman, 157 lbs
DJ is undefeated at 8-0 on the season. He broke into the national rankings last week for the first time in his career after beating #24 ranked Alejandro Herrera of Clarion. This weekend, he went 2-0 with a major decision against MacIntosh of Morgan State and a 4-2 decision over Michael Blockhus of Minnesota. Blockhus is a four-time NCAA Qualifier and was an NCAA All-American last year. Blockhus is currently ranked in the top eight in the country again this season. McGee scored the only takedown in the match against Blockhus. between both of his matches, he scored 19 points and surrendered no offensive points (only escapes).
Wyatt Henson, Lock Haven, R-Sophomore, 141 lbs
Competing unattached at Millersville’s Shorty Hitchcock Classic on Saturday, Nov. 18, nationally-ranked Wyatt Henson (Waynesburg, Pa./Waynesburg) soared to the 141-pound title. Ranked No. 23 in the nation, Henson was a perfect 4-0 with two pins. He opened the day with an early second-period pin, knocked off the top-seed in the quarterfinals and he pinned the No. 3 seed - DJ Chavis of Virginia Tech in just 2:11 in the finals to cap off a dominant outing. -Wyatt Henson pinned Mason Casey (Messiah), 4:08 -Wyatt Henson dec.
