MAC Announces Wrestlers of the Week

West Wrestler of the Week
Corbyn Munson, Central Michigan, Graduate Student, 149 lbs
Central Michigan's Corbyn Munson capped a perfect 5-0 week to open the season by winning the title in the 149-pound open division at the Michigan State Open. Munson, a graduate student who is ranked 13th nationally by InterMat, had three pins on the week and two of his victories came over ranked wrestlers. He opened the season with a 4-2 victory over 14th-ranked Willie McDougald of Oklahoma, and then recorded three pins in going 4-0 in rolling to the title at the Michigan State Open. At MSU, Munson pinned Grand Valley State's Michael Merrit in the first period and then posted an 8-1 win over Aidan Medora of Wisconsin. He followed with a second-period pin of Oklahoma's Cameron Pickle and then pinned 15th-ranked Joseph Zargo of Wisconsin in the third period in the title match.

East Wrestler of the Week
Anthony Noto, Lock Haven, Redshirt-Junior, 125 lbs
Earlier this week, Anthony Noto jumped to No. 1 in the national rankings and the nation’s top-ranked 125-pounder showed why as he dominated in his much-anticipated season-debut. As No. 23 Lock Haven took on No. 13 Arizona State and Army in dual action, Noto recorded back-to-back tech falls. In the match vs. Arizona State, Noto rolled to victory over Max Brewster in just 4:40 (tech fall; 18-3). No. 1 – Noto, took on Army’s nationally-ranked No. 27 Ethan Berginc, but again the Bald Eagle was too much, and Noto won 20-5 (tech fall; 7:00).
