MAC Announces Week 10 Volleyball Award Winners

East Division Offensive Player of the Week        
Lauryn Hovey, Bowling Green, Opposite
Bowling Green sophomore Lauryn Hovey had a career weekend. In the five-set match against Central Michigan, Hovey landed a career-high 32 kills on a career-high 65 attack attempts while maintaining a .369 hitting percentage, leading the team in all three categories. In each of BGSU's two matches, Hovey added nine digs to her stat line, coming up just one dig shy of a double-double in each match. Hovey also landed a team-high three aces in the match against Central Michigan.
 
East Division Defensive Player of the Week       
Maria Futey, Buffalo, Libero
Maria Futey had a solid weekend for the Bulls defensively against Western Michigan and Northern Illinois. Her defensive performance allowed the Bulls to improve to a MAC East leading 10-3 and 20-5 overall on the season. This marks the first time since 1995 that UB won 20 matches in a season. She had a career-high 28 digs against the Broncos on Friday evening. In total, Futey had 50 digs, good for 6.25 digs per set. She added seven assists and four service aces for the Bulls, finishing with 4.0 points. After the weekend, she moved to 10th in program history with 1,101 career digs.
 
East Division Setter of the Week
Mandy Leigh, Buffalo, Setter
Mandy Leigh had another outstanding weekend for the Bulls against Western Michigan and Northern Illinois. Her performance allowed the Bulls to improve to a MAC East leading 10-3 and 20-5 overall on the season. This marks the first time since 1995 that UB won 20 matches in a season. Against the Broncos, she had a 46 assist and 14 dig performance, good for her team-leading 15th double-double.  She totaled 101 assists, good for 12.63 per set. She added six kills, one ace, 20 digs, one block, and 7.5 points on the weekend.
 
West Division Offensive Player of the Week
Keona Salesman, Western Michigan, Outside Hitter

Keona Salesman recorded double-digit kills in both Bronco wins last week, totaling 34 (4.25/set) while hitting .316. The senior tallied 17 kills on a .310 hitting percentage in Friday's victory over Buffalo, including back-to-back kills to close out the second set, which helped WMU even the contest at one set apiece. Salesman then notched 17 more kills on a .324 hitting percentage in Saturday's win over Akron.
 
West Division Defensive Player of the Week       
Andelyn Simkins, Western Michigan, Libero
Andelyn Simkins racked up 52 digs (6.50/set) and posted a .919 reception percentage (34-for-37) in a pair of Western Michigan wins last week. The senior had 26 digs in the victory over Buffalo, and followed that up with 26 digs again the next day against Akron. In the win over the Zips, Simkins also added a career-high 10 assists for her first double-double of the season, and went a perfect 19-for-19 on serve receive.
 
West Division Setter of the Week
Logan Case, Western Michigan, Setter
Logan Case handed out 108 assists (13.50/set) to help the Western Michigan offense hit .311 in a pair of victories over Buffalo and Akron last week. The senior opened the week with 55 assists, one shy of her season high, setting up three different Broncos for double-digit kills as WMU hit .307 in a four-set win over Buffalo. Case followed that up on Saturday with a 53-assist performance to again help three teammates tally double-digit kills and post a .314 team hitting percentage in a victory over Akron.
