East Division Offensive Player of the Week
Lauryn Hovey, Bowling Green, Opposite
Lauryn Hovey led the Falcon attack with 34 kills over the two matches. She began by landing 15 in the first match while narrowly missing a double-double with nine digs. Hovey followed it up on Saturday by matching her season-high with 19 kills and seven digs. She also added a solo block as well as four block assists for a team-high 22 points in the match.
East Division Defensive Player of the Week
Bryn Roberts, Kent State, Libero
Bryn Roberts averaged 5.29 digs per set to lead a Kent State defense that held Miami to a .184 hitting percentage. Roberts tallied her 1,000th career dig during a 3-0 victory on Friday to open the weekend. She then had 26 digs, the most in a four-setter during MAC play, on Saturday. Roberts was perfect in 28 service reception opportunities.
East Division Setter of the Week
Mandy Leigh, Buffalo, Setter
Mandy Leigh had an outstanding weekend for the Bulls against Toledo. She helped the Bulls split their weekend series. She averaged 10.20 assists per set, finishing with a total of 102. Her 57-assist performance on Friday night allowed her to surpass 3,000 career assists. She is just the seventh Bull in program history to reach this milestone. In both matches, she finished with a double-double as she is now up to 12 on the season. She finished with seven kills, 102 assists, one ace, 23 digs, six blocks, and 11.0 points.
West Division Offensive Player of the Week
Aniya Kennedy, Ball State, Outside Hitter
It was another solid week for Ball State freshman outside attacker Aniya Kennedy who led the Ball State offense and ranked second in the MAC with a 5.43 kills-per-set average and connecting for a .245 (38-15-94) hitting percentage … She started the week by leading all players with 13 kills in Thursday’s sweep of the Zips, hitting for a .200 (13-6-35) rate of success … Kennedy turned in an even more impressive performance in Friday’s four-set win, smashing a career-high 25 kills and hitting .271 (25-9-59) … The effort marked the third time in the last four matches she has tallied a new career high for kills.
West Division Defensive Player of the Week
Charli Atiemo, Northern Illinois, Middle Blocker
Charli Atiemo was a force in the front for the Huskies offense as they swept Eastern Michigan in DeKalb. Atiemo had several big blocks for the Huskies as they won their third straight and fifth of the last six games. Atiemo was part of a Huskie defense that recorded a season-high 15 blocks on Oct. 12, with 3 solo blocks and 3 block assists in that match. In the Eastern Michigan series, Atimeo recorded 11 total blocks (1.83 per set).
West Division Setter of the Week
Logan Case, Western Michigan, Setter
Logan Case racked up 75 assists (12.50/set) and helped the Western Michigan offense hit .310 on its way to a pair of straight-set victories over Central Michigan. The senior handed out 41 assists on Thursday as the Broncos hit .371, their second-highest, single-match hitting percentage of the season. Case tallied 34 more assists on Friday, and also had a block assist on the clinching point as WMU stayed undefeated (8-0) in MAC play.
