Men's Track and Field Awards Announced

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced the 2022 Indoor Track & Field post season awards on Wednesday. All awards are voted on by the head coaches in the conference, with the exception of All-MAC Teams and Freshmen Performers of the Year, which are determined on points earned at the conference championship meet.
 
Baldvin Magnusson of Eastern Michigan is the 2022 MAC Men’s Most Outstanding Track Performer after taking home first in the mile, 3000, 5000, and 3rd in 800.  Magnusson scored an impressive 36 points for the Eagles.
 
Jake Wickey of Kent State took home the 2022 MAC Men’s Most Outstanding Field Performer. Wickey defeated a pair of top-5 nationally ranked competitors and recorded a top-5 mark on the national performance list for the week to capture his record-setting fourth weight throw title. Wickey’s mark of 22.55m (73’-11.75”) is the second-best by the event winner in MAC Championships history. He led from the start with a throw of 22.08m on his first attempt. Three of his four measured throws went further than 22m, while only one other competitor recorded this distance on a single throw
 
Mark Rinker is the 2022 MAC Men’s Assistant Coach of the Year. Rinker coached the Eagles to 77 points for the men's distance group in the 800, mile, 3000, 5000, and Distance Medley relay.
