Cleveland, Ohio -- The Mid-American Conference announced Thursday morning the 2022 MAC Softball preseason poll and predicted MAC Regular Season and Tournament Champion as voted on by the head coaches of the 11 MAC institutions.
 
The Miami Redhawks were selected to finish the 2022 season on top of the MAC as Head Coach Kirin Kumar and her team come off an impressive 46-10 season a year ago. The Redhawks return 2021 MAC Pitcher of the Year Courtney Vierstra to the circle this season, along with 2021 MAC Freshman of the Year Karli Spaid.
 
The Kent State Golden Flashes finished second in the poll collecting 106 votes, followed by Ball State in third with 95 total votes. The remaining top half of the 2022 Softball Preseason Poll includes Bowling Green, Ohio, Toledo, and Central Michigan. 
 
Northern Illinois and Buffalo fall at the 8th and 9th spots in the poll, while Western Michigan and Akron round out the poll respectively. 
 
The 2022 season begins today Thursday, February 10th with teams traveling to compete in non-conference action.
