Toledo's RayJ Dennis Named Men's Basketball Player of the Week

Junior point guard RayJ Dennis scored a career-high 23 points twice and averaged 6.0 apg and 2.0 spg this week to lead Toledo to a season-opening 85-70 victory over Valparaiso on Monday and a 93-85 statement win over Conference USA favorite UAB in Philadelphia's Wells Fargo Center on Friday in the Barstool Sports Invitational.
 
Dennis was also extremely efficient from the field by knocking down 57.6 percent (19-of-33) of his shots from the field and 42.9 three-point FG% (3-of-7).
 
In the Rockets’ season opener vs. Valpo, Dennis helped the Rockets jump out to a 21-4 lead and never look back. He hit 10-of-15 shots from the field and 2-of-4 attempts from behind the arc on his way to scoring a team-best 23 points as well as dishing out a team-high five assists with just one turnover in 26 minutes.
 
Dennis then led the way with 23 points and seven assists while shooting 9-of-18 from the field in 35 minutes. He helped Toledo rally from a 46-39 halftime deficit by being part of a defensive effort that limited the Blazers to a 35.3 FG% in the second half and force 22 turnovers in the contest.
