Women's Tennis Singles Player of the Week
Emma Peeler, Ball State
Sophomore, Cleveland, Ohio
On Saturday, Peeler took to the top court against Middle Tennessee's Lee Barnard winning her first set fairly easily by a score of 6-1. Although, Peeler dropped the second frame to Barnard she came back fiercely in the third to win the three set thriller 7-6. Peeler's win over Barnard clinched the 4-3 victory for Ball State Saturday over the Blue Raiders.
Women's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week
Eileen Carney, Toledo, Junior, Joliet, Ill.
Christina Fuller, Toledo, Junior,Newburgh, Ind.
Eileen Carney and Christina Fuller teamed up to play on the No. 2 doubles court against Cleveland State on Friday, defeating their Viking counterparts to clinch the doubles point for Toledo in their 5-2 victory. After Toledo won on court No. 3 and CSU winning on the No. 1 court, the doubles point came down to Carney and Fuller, who were able to win, 7-6, to help the Rockets come away with the win over Cleveland State.

Junior Laura Rico finished 2-0 this past week with a pair of wins at No. 2 singles, helping the Miami RedHawks to a pair of victories. She opened with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles versus Dayton and followed that up with another victory, this time 6-0, 6-4 versus Butler.
Selina Karg, Bowling Green
Freshman, Augsburg, Germany
Bowling Green freshman Selina Karg played her way to the Falcons lone point against Notre Dame on Friday (Feb. 12), picking up her first collegiate win. Playing No. 6 singles, Karg defeated Notre Dame's Meghan Coleman by scores of 7-5 and 6-4.
Ana Guadiana, Western Michigan
Freshman, Monterrey, Mexico
Freshman Ana Guadiana went 2-0 as the Broncos swept a double-header on the road at St. Bonaventure on Saturday. Guadiana played at No. 3 singles in the first match, winning 6-1, 6-1 over Andrea Roque. During the second match she moved up and competed at No. 2 singles for the first time in her young career, winning 6-1, 6-3 over Sofia Franco. Her wins helped keep the Broncos undefeated on the season, improving to 5-0. Guadiana also remains perfect, winning all five of her singles matches on the season.
Luisa Pelayo, Eastern Michigan
R-Jr. Porto, Portugal
Redshirt junior Luisa Pelayo continues her singles dominance in the No. 3 spot, boasting a 5-1 season record after wins against UIC and Bradley, Feb. 12. Pelayo started the doubleheader besting the opposition from the Flames in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. The redshirt junior transfer backed up that win with another, this time against the Braves, 6-2, 6-4. The Porto, Portugal native is one of two players in the MAC to reach five singles wins at this point in the season.
Julia Kuszynski, Toledo
Freshman, Markham, Ont.
Freshman Julia Kuszynski provided the match-clinching victory for Toledo on Friday, defeating her Cleveland State opponent on the No. 4 court to seal the deal for the Rockets. After UT won the doubles point earlier in the match, they found themselves one point away from victory and Kuszynski provided that point by winning 6-1, 6-3 on the No. 4 court.
Gabriella Akopyan, Buffalo
Senior, Yerevan, Armenia
For the second straight week senior Gabriella Akopyan swept her opponent in singles action. On Saturday, Akopyan moved up to first singles for the Bulls and defeated Dominique Yeo of St. Francis (PA), 6-0, 6-0. Akopyan is now a perfect 2-0 in singles action and has not yet dropped a game.
Milana Lysova, Miami, Senior, Almaty, Kazakhstan
Sofia Zaprianov, Miami, Freshman, Concord, Calif.
The doubles team of Milana Lysova and Sofia Zaprianov captured a pair of victories this week at No. 3 doubles. The dup opened with a 6-3 win over Dayton and concluded with a 6-2 win versus Butler as the RedHawks went 2-0 over the past week as a team.
Selina Karg Bowling Green, Senior
Marta Bettinelli, Bowling Green, Senior, Milan, Italy
Bowling Green senior Marta Bettinelli and freshman Selina Karg picked up a 6-0 set sweep over Bellarmine on Saturday (Feb. 13) to mark their first win as a doubles team. The win helped clinch the doubles point for the Falcons that propelled the team into a 7-0 win over Bellarmine, the team's first win of the campaign.
Femke Tjon-A-Joe, Western Michigan, Junior, Corpus Christi, Texas
Kristina Tiraspolsky, Western Michigan, Junior, Toronto Ontario
The duo of Femke Tjon-A-Joe and Kristina Tiraspolsky went 2-0 in doubles play as the Broncos swept a double-header at St. Bonaventure on Saturday. In their first match the team won at No. 1, 7-5, over Andrea Roque and Anastasia Gubanova. The second match saw the duo make quicker work of their opponents at No 1, winning 6-2 over Roque and Sofia Franco. Tjon-A-Joe and Tiraspolsky are now 3-0 as a team this season.

Isabelle Popma, Eastern Michigan R.-Fr. Staphorst, Netherlands
Eastern's No. 1 pairing finished the weekend 1-1 after hard fought battles against UIC and Bradley. Redshirt junior Vasavi Ganesan and redshirt freshman Isabelle Popma topped UIC 6-4 in doubles play, Feb. 12. The dou fought hard in the second half of a doubleheader, this time against Bradley, but were unable to secure the win, 7-6 (7-4). Ganesan and Popma move to 2-1 in the No. 1 spot, 4-2 overall.
Gabriella Akopyan, Buffalo, Senior, Yerevan, Armenia
Nikoleta Antoniou-Karademitrou, Buffalo, Junior, Volos, Greece
Buffalo's number one doubles team of senior Gabriella Akopyan and junior Nikoleta Antoniou-Karademitrou had no trouble with their competition on Saturday as they had an easy 6-0 victory over Romina Cutipa and Dominque Yeo of St. Francis (PA) as the Bulls went on to win the doubles point in a 6-1 victory over the Red Flash.
