Laird scored arguably the biggest win of his collegiate career with an 8-5 decision over #5 Jordan Wood of Lehigh on Sunday, clinching the Broncs' 17-15 dual victory. The Broncs' senior heavyweight jumped out to a 5-2 lead, before Wood evened the score at 5-5 in the third period. Following an escape with 30 seconds remaining to retake a 6-5 lead, Laird put the match out of reach with a takedown with 16 seconds remaining and rode out the victory. He's now a perfect 5-0 on the year.
 
Dresden Simon, Central Michigan, Senior, 141 lbs. 
Dansville, Mich. (Dansville HS) 
Central Michigan senior 141-pounder Dresden Simon went 3-0 in three duals over the weekend, winning in dominant fashion in improving to 5-1 on the season. Simon, who is ranked 12th nationally by Flo wrestling, posted one pin and two tech falls in helping the Chippewas win three road duals over Cleveland State, Edinboro and Buffalo. Simon's pin came in the first period over Buffalo's Derek Spann, who entered the dual ranked 23rd. Simon's two tech falls came over Cleveland State's Joseph Caprella, 16-1, in the second period; and over Edinboro's Ryan Burgos, 16-1, in the first. Simon is ranked second in the MAC, is the defending league champion at 141, and last season was a Second Team All-American.
