Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty -- 125 lbs.
Luke Werner of the Lock Haven University wresting team went 4-0 and cruised to the 125-pound title at Saturday’s (Nov. 20) Navy Classic. The redshirt-senior capped his dominating and perfect day with an upset-win in the finals. With the four wins, the Bald Eagle ran his career win total to 97 as he looks to become the 23rd member of The Haven's 100-win club. Werner opened the day with a 15-0 (5:12) tech fall over Jordan White (The Citadel) and followed that up with a quick (27-second) pin over Bucknell’s Calvin Dalton. In the semifinals, Werner dropped Ohio’s Oscar Sanchez, 8-4. In the finals, Werner upset nationally-ranked Jake Ferri of Kent State. Ferri was ranked No. 31 nationally, but Werner secured a late takedown to win 12-10 in a thriller.
