NIU All-American Brit Wilson opened his 2021-22 campaign by winning the title at 184 at the 2021 MSU Open hosted by Michigan State. Wilson was dominant in his first action of the season, earning first period pins of Cal Poly's Dylan Miracle (1:29) and Findlay’s Mark Trifelos (2:11) in his first two bouts. He advanced to the championship match with an impressive 8-1 decision over Darion Roberts on Oklahoma. He won the title after posting a medical forfeit victory of Cal Poly's Bernie Truax who suffered an injury in his semifinal bout and was unable to compete in the championship match.
