TEAM NOTES

AKRON 
The 2020 Mid-American Conference Tournament is on deck for the No. 8 Akron women's basketball team. The Zips locked in a home game in the first round of the MAC Tournament and in doing so, host No. 9 Toledo on Monday, March 9, inside James A. Rhodes Arena with first tip between the Zips and Rockets coming at 7 p.m. The Akron women's basketball team is scheduled to compete in its 35th all-time Mid-American Conference Tournament contest on Monday, March 9. Heading into the game, Akron has tallied a 12-22 overall record in the conference tournament, captured the tournament championship in 2014. 

BALL STATE
With the 2020 Mid-American Conference tournament in their sights, Ball State and Oshlynn Brown collected her 15th double-double of the season with 17 points and 15 rebounds. Freeman also registered a 17-point performance and dished out six assists while Agustsdottir ended the game with 13 points. The Ball State women's basketball team will compete Wednesday as the No. 2 seed in Cleveland, Ohio at the 2020 Mid-American Conference Tournament.

BOWLING GREEN
The Falcons will play a third true road game in a six-day span, taking on Western Michigan University in league tourney first-round action on Monday night. BG enters the league tournament having won two of the last four games. BGSU scored more than 80 points in three consecutive games in that span, sandwiching double-digit victories over Ohio and MU around a double-overtime loss to Kent State.

BUFFALO
The sixth-seeded University at Buffalo women's basketball team welcomes No. 11-seed Miami (OH) to Alumni Arena for the first round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament on Monday at 5pm. This is the first time the Bulls have hosted a first round game since 2017, when they beat Bowling Green 61-45. Theresa Onwuka scored her 1,000th career point in the fourth quarter in the win over Kent State on Saturday becoming the 26th 1,000 point scorer in program history.

CENTRAL MICHIGAN
The Central Michigan women's basketball team used a strong second half to in downing Eastern Michigan, 76-69, on Saturday during CMU's Senior Day before 2,405 at McGuirk Arena. The Chippewas take a 23-6 record into next week's Mid-American Conference Tournament at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland. CMU finished 16-2 in the MAC, winning its fourth-consecutive overall league title and its fifth-straight MAC West crown.

EASTERN MICHIGAN
Eastern Michigan University will begin play in the 2020 Mid-American Conference Tournament with a home game against No. 10 Northern Illinois University. Eastern will play in its 51st MAC tournament game when it takes the court against NIU, March 9. EMU is 26-24 all-time in its league tournament appearances, which date back to the 1981-82 season. Eastern has twice captured the tournament crown and reached the NCAA tournament via an automatic bid, first in  2004, and most recently in 2012.

KENT STATE
Sophomore Lindsey Thall made six three-point field goals as part of a 28-point performance as the Kent State women's basketball team fell on the road to Buffalo, 72-58, in the final regular season game Saturday afternoon. While the Golden Flashes (18-11, 11-7 MAC) had their four-game winning streak come to an end, they had already secured at least a share of the Mid-American Conference East Division title and were locked into the No. 3 seed in next week's conference tournament.

MIAMI
No. 11 Miami travels to No. 6 Buffalo for the first round of the MAC Tournament on Monday. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. Senior Lauren Dickerson became Miami's all-time leading scorer in the RedHawks' regular-season finale loss at Ohio on Saturday. Dickerson had a game-high 25 points as she now has 2,186 career points. Senior Savannah Kluesner moved into 10th on Miami's all-time scoring list with 23 points on Saturday and now totals 1,328 career points.

NORTHERN ILLINOIS
The Northern Illinois University women's basketball team will take on the Eastern Michigan Eagles in the first round of the 2020 Mid-American Conference Women's Basketball Tournament Monday night at the EMU Convocation Center.  NIU (11-18) wrapped up the regular season Saturday with an 86-79 win at Toledo, giving the Huskies their third win in the last four games. The Huskies held the Rockets without a field goal for over 11 minutes of the third and fourth quarters to build a 67-54 lead with 5:35 to play in the game.R edshirt-Senior forward Courtney Woods (Brisbane, Australia/St. Margaret's) claimed another NIU record on Saturday, playing in her 129th game as a Huskie

OHIO
The Ohio women's basketball team earned the No. 4 seed and a bye in the upcoming 2020 Mid-American Conference Tournament after defeating Miami, 92-78, on Saturday afternoon at the Convocation Center. The Bobcats were led by junior guard Cece Hooks (Dayton, Ohio), who had 24 points on 9-of-14 shooting. Hooks hit one three and pulled down nine rebounds and dished out seven assists. Ohio will play either No. 5 Western Michigan or No. 12 Bowling Green on Wednesday, March 11 at 2 p.m. at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland.

TOLEDO
No. 9 seed Toledo (12-17) opens the 2020 Mid-American Conference Tournament on Monday, March 9 with a first-round contest at No. 8 seed Akron (15-14). The winner of tomorrow's contest will meet No. 1 seed Central Michigan (23-6) in the quarterfinals on Wednesday. The cross-division foes have squared off on seven occasions in the post-season tourney, with Toledo holding a 5-2 (.714) edge.

WESTERN MICHIGAN
The Western Michigan women's basketball team received a No. 5 seed and hosts No. 12 Bowling Green in a first-round matchup. Western Michigan heads into Monday's contest with a 10-8 record in conference play, averaging 69.2 points per game and 39 rebounds. Jordan Walker has led the team in scoring this season with 15.6 points per game, while Breanna Mobley averages a double-double with 14.0 points and 11.0 rebounds.
