Bloomsburg:
Wrestling Ends Regular Season With Conference Loss At Old Dominion Sunday

NORFOLK, Va. - The Bloomsburg University wrestling team wrapped up the 2019-20 regular season on Sunday afternoon with a 33-3 loss at Old Dominion in a Mid-American Conference (MAC) dual. The Huskies end the year with a 3-10 overall record and an 0-8 mark against league opponents in their inaugural season in the MAC. The Monarchs concluded the regular season with a 10-9 overall mark and a 6-2 record against MAC foes. The Huskies dropped to 2-3 lifetime against the Monarchs in the all-time series with Sunday's matchup marking the first between the two schools since 2008.  Full Story...

Buffalo:
Bulls Split Final Two Duals of the Season on Sunday

ATHENS, OH – The University at Buffalo wrestling team competed in their final duals of the season on Sunday. The Bulls split a pair of duals, losing to Ohio in the opener, 27-10, before beating Gardner-Webb, 34-12. Wrestling in an arena powered by only emergency lighting due to a power outage on campus, the Bulls struggled to find their footing against the Bobcats.  Derek Spann tied the dual early with a 14-4 major decision over Giovanni DiSabato.  Full Story...

Bulls Take Down Binghamton on Senior Night, 20-15

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo wrestling team sent their seniors out with a win, defeating Binghamton, 20-15, on Senior Night at Alumni Arena on Friday. The win snapped the Bulls' four-dual losing streak. After falling behind, 3-0, Derek Spann wrestled a strong match to upset eighth-ranked Zack Trampe, earning the 9-8 decision. Spann used a takedown, two-point nearfall and a reversal in the second period to build an 8-3 lead. Spann improved to 15-2 in duals with the win. Full Story...

Chippewas Down Michigan State


MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – End of the season, and Central Michigan is wrestling well. End of a match, and the Chippewas, to a man, wrestled with energy. End of a career, and a big, big win for Logan Parks. The Central Michigan wrestling team won six matches including the final two on Friday as the Chippewas topped Michigan State, 21-15, in a nonconference dual before 1,015 at McGuirk Arena. It was CMU's sixth-consecutive dual victory as it finished 8-4. Full Story...

Clarion:
Wrestling Closes Regular Season With Win at Edinboro

EDINBORO, Pa. – The Golden Eagle wrestling team clinched their second 10-win season in three years with a close win on Sunday, with Clarion hanging on for a 17-16 win over Edinboro at McComb Fieldhouse.  With the win, Clarion finishes the dual match season with a 10-7 overall record, and a 7-4 record in Mid-American Conference action. The victory finished off Clarion's third straight season with a dual match record of .500 or better, the first time the team has done that since a nine-month stretch that started in the 1970s and continued into the next decade.  Full Story...

Edinboro:
Oliver, Mulligan Winners as Edinboro Falls to 21st-Ranked Michigan

EDINBORO, Pa. – Edinboro's marquee wrestling match of the season drew a good crowd to McComb Fieldhouse on Friday night, many in the maize and blue, but the Fighting Scots were unable to upset a Michigan team that came in tied for 21st in the latest NWCA Division I Top 25 rankings. Michigan would hand the Fighting Scots a 33-5 defeat. Edinboro is now 10-9 with one match remaining on Sunday against MAC opponent Clarion. George Mason:
Patriots Upend Terps

COLLEGE PARK, Md.— Mason's final dual match of the season came down to the last match of the evening between the Patriots and Terps inside XFINITY Center Pavillion.  With the Patriots down two points, 16-14, Alex Madrigal delivered Mason's only major decision tonight with a 9-0 win over Maryland's Hunter Baxter at 141 pounds to edge Maryland, 18-16. The Patriots finish the season 9-9, matching last season's win total. American Edges Mason in Final Home Match
 
FAIRFAX, Va.— George Mason and American each had four-match win streaks, but the Eagles prevailed 18-14 in the Patriots last home match of the season. The first two matches were nationally ranked showdowns. American drew first blood with a major decision, #24 Sal Profaci over #26 Alex Madrigal, 10-0. The Eagles Profaci jump out to a 9-0 lead in the first period with a takedown and a near fall.  Colston DiBlasi responded for the Patriots with a 4-1 decision over #7 Kizhan Clarke, handing the 149 pounder only his fourth loss on the season with an NCAA DI-leading 33 wins. DiBlasi improves to 26-8 this season and passes Adrian Austin (103) in all-time wins with 104.  Full Story…

Wrestling hosts Mat-Town Open II, wraps up regular season

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University wrestling team wrapped up the 2019-20 regular season today by hosting the annual Mat-Town Open II Tournament. The LHU wrestlers competed unattached today, and leading the way for Lock Haven was Matt Maloney (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) and Cole Manley (Altoona, Pa./Altoona). Maloney was 2-1 and finished second at 125, and Manley was second at 133 after going 2-1. Full Story...

Wrestling caps dual season with loss to No. 16 Cornell

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University wrestling team (7-7) closed the dual portion of its 2019-20 season tonight at home with a 23-13 loss to No. 16 Cornell (11-7). The Bald Eagles won four bouts and got wins from three seniors in the lineup as LHU celebrated Senior Night in front of another boisterous Thomas Fieldhouse crowd.  Prior to the start of tonight's match, LHU honored its eight graduating seniors: DJ Fehlman, Kyle Shoop, Collin Glorioso, Alex Klucker, Jared Siegrist, Corey Hazel and Ray Bernot and Trey Hartsock.  Full Story...

Missouri:
Mizzou Wrestling Dominates No. 21 Iowa State, 27-6, on Senior Day

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Wrestling closed its regular season with a 27-6 win over No. 21 Iowa State Saturday afternoon (Feb. 22) at the Hearnes Center. The Tigers extended their win streak against their former Big Eight and Big 12 rival, earning their fifth straight win over the Cyclones. Saturday's dual was Mizzou's final competition before beginning postseason action, ending the regular season with a 12-7 overall record and a 6-2 record at home. The Tigers won eight out of 10 bouts in the dominant win Saturday, its first over a ranked opponent this season. Mizzou lost at just 125 pounds and heavyweight, doing so to ranked opponents at both weights. There was a large crowd on hand for Mizzou's win with 2,464 fans in the attendance at Hearnes. That is the 10th largest crowd in program history.  Full Story...

Huskies Win Lucky Number 13

DEKALB, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University wrestling team earned its 13th win of the season when it dispatched of Drexel, 35-3, on Senior Night in Victor E. Court Friday. It is the Huskies' (13-4, 7-2) first 13-win campaign since 2004-05 when NIU won 14 duals that season. NIU won nine of the 10 bouts on the evening, recording a pair of pins, two major decision wins and scored two wins in overtime.  Full Story...

Ohio Wrestling Picks Up Senior Day Wins Over Buffalo, Gardner-Webb

ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio wrestling team (9-8, 5-4 MAC) finished its 2019-20 regular season strong, picking up a pair of Senior Day wins this afternoon at the Convocation Center. The Bobcats earned a decisive 27-10 win over MAC foe Buffalo, then rolled to a 40-6 triumph over Gardner-Webb to close out the afternoon.  Ohio celebrated its six-member 2020 senior class prior to the dual against Gardner-Webb, with Zac Carson, Kade Kowalski, Shakur Laney, Ben Schneider, Joe Terry and Hunter Yeargan honored in front of the home crowd. Carson, Laney and Yeargan ensured it would be a Senior Day to remember as all three went 2-0 on the afternoon to help propel the Bobcats to a pair of wins. Full Story...

Ohio Wrestling Edges Utah Valley

ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio wrestling team (7-8, 4-4 MAC) edged Utah Valley (2-11) this evening at the Convocation Center, 18-17. The Bobcats overcame a 7-0 deficit after the Wolverines picked up a win by decision at 125 pounds and a major decision victory at 133. Redshirt senior Shakur Laney got Ohio on the board with a 16-1 win by technical fall over redshirt freshman Kainalu Estrella in 4:54 at 141. Laney has now picked up wins in seven of Ohio's last eight duals, including six in a row. Full Story...

Old Dominion:
Wrestling Honors Seniors, Defeats Bloomsburg, 33-3 in Regular Season Finale

NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion wrestling team (10-9, 6-2 MAC) capped off its regular season by honoring its seniors and earning a 33-3 victory over Mid-American Conference (MAC) foe Bloomsburg (3-10, 0-8 MAC) on Sunday afternoon at Chartway Arena. Six of the seven ODU seniors wrestled on Sunday, with five of them coming out victorious. At 133 pounds, Steven Simpson was the first senior to take the mat and he found himself down, 5-2 after the first period. Simpson quickly jumped his opponent Josh Mason on the scoreboard, earning a reversal and a two-point near-fall in the second frame to hold a 6-5 lead. Full Story...

Rider:
Wrestling Closes Out Regular Season With 22-16 Win At Maryland

COLLEGE PARK, MD – Seven Broncs contributed wins as the Rider University wrestling team won its regular-season finale over the University of Maryland, 22-16, Saturday evening inside the Xfinity Center. With the win, the Broncs improve to 12-3, while the Terrapins are now 2-17. Rider claimed victories in each of the first four bouts and never trailed in the match. Jonathan Tropea (Harrington Park, NJ/Saint Joseph (Montvale)), Richie Koehler (Middletown, NJ/Christian Brothers Academy), Peter Lipari (Byram Township, NJ/Bergen Catholic [Rutgers]) and Gino Fluri (Blairstown/North Warren Regional) each won by decision in their matches to give the Broncs a strong 12-0 lead over the Terrapins. At 157, Maryland's Lucas Cordio would win by fall over Travis Layton (Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown) to cut the Broncs' lead in half going into the intermission.  Full Story...

Northwestern Tops Cougars on Senior Day

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - SIUE wrestling celebrated Senior Day Sunday in First Community Arena at the Vadalabene Center, honoring Gage Datlovsky, Jake McKiernan and Tyshawn Williams. Northwestern won the dual 38-9. Kevin Gschwendtner and Colton McKiernan picked up victories for the Cougars, which finished the regular season with a dual record of 3-13. Northwestern completed its season 6-7 overall. Gschwendtner started out the dual with a win over Tyler Morland 7-6, completing his season with consecutive wins and a 10-16 record.  Full Story...
