Bloomsburg:
Wrestling Falls Late At George Mason, 21-19

FAIRFAX, Va. - Five wrestlers earned victories on Sunday afternoon - four with bonus points - but it wasn't enough as the Bloomsburg University wrestling team dropped a 21-19 decision at George Mason University in a Mid-American Conference (MAC) dual at the Patriots' Recreation Athletic Complex. The Huskies dropped to 3-9 overall and 0-7 against MAC opponents while George Mason improved to 8-8 overall and 3-5 in conference action. Bloomsburg held a 19-17 advantage heading to the final match of the day but George Mason's Jake Slinger was able to knock off redshirt sophomore Michael Porreca (Barto, Pa./Boyertown) by major decision in the heavyweight bout to give the Patriots the two-point victory. Wrestling Falls To Cleveland State, 23-13, On Senior Night Friday
 
BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University wrestling team had four grapplers earn victories on Friday night but it wasn't enough as the visiting Vikings of Cleveland State University knocked off the Huskies, 23-13, on Senior Night at the Nelson Field House. With the loss, Bloomsburg dropped to 3-8 overall and remained winless in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) standings as it fell to 0-6 against conference foes. Buffalo:
Bulls Suffer another Close Setback at Northern Illinois, 19-16
 
DEKALB, IL – It was another tough setback for a young University at Buffalo wrestling squad on Friday night as they dropped a dual at Northern Illinois, 19-16. The close loss spoiled some solid individual efforts by the Bulls. After dropping a decision in the opening match, Derek Spann was dominant in a 13-0 major decision over Caleb Brooks at 133 to put the Bulls ahead 4-3. Spann improved to 14-2 in duals with the victory. Marcus Robinson followed with his best effort of the season. The redshirt-freshman needed only 37 seconds to pin Anthony Gibson and extend the UB lead to 10-3. It was Robinson's first career pin in a MAC dual.  Full Story…
 
Clarion:
Wrestling Starts Fast but Falls to Broncs 25-13

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – The Clarion wrestling team won four bouts on Sunday but were unable to upset the top team in the MAC East division, as the Golden Eagles fell to Rider 25-13 in a conference road match.  Clarion (9-6, 6-4 MAC East) will close their dual match schedule in exactly one week when they travel to Edinboro. The overall bout was closer than the final score might indicate, as the teams were neck and neck through the first six matches.  The Golden Eagles led 10-9 after Mike Bartolo's sudden victory win over Gary Dinmore at 165 pounds, but the Broncs won three of the last four matches of the day – two by fall – to record the team win.  Full Story...

Wrestling Snuffs Golden Flashes, 30-8
 
CLARION, Pa. – The Golden Eagle wrestling team clinched a winning dual season with a dominant effort over Kent State on Friday, as Clarion defeated the Golden Flashes 30-8 at Tippin Gym.  Clarion (9-5, 6-3 MAC East) took eight of the 10 bouts to claim their first win over Kent State since the 2000-01 season, snapping a nine-match losing streak to the Golden Flashes.  Brock Zacherl wrestled the final home dual of his Clarion career, defeating Kody Komara 3-2 in the 149-pound bout.  The 12th-ranked wrestler in the most recent NCAA coaches' panel, Zacherl earned the distinction of an undefeated home dual record. Full Story…
 
Cleveland State:
CSU Drops Regular-Season Finale to Big Ten Foe

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Cleveland State University wrestling team came up short to a Big Ten foe in its regular-season finale as visiting Michigan State claimed a 25-9 victory over the Vikings Sunday afternoon inside Woodling Gymnasium. A trio of Vikings claimed victories in their final home competition of the season, as CSU faced an opponent that was fresh off a win over No. 4 Wisconsin. Redshirt senior Evan Cheek, true freshman Logan Heil and sophomore Ben Smith each tallied a win for Cleveland State.  Full Story...

Kelbly’s Pin Secures CSU's Ninth Win
 
BLOOMSBURG, Pa. -- The Cleveland State University wrestling team was given a late scare by host Bloomsburg, but redshirt sophomore John Kelbly came through in the final bout to help the Vikings claim a 23-13 win in Mid-American Conference dual action Friday evening inside Nelson Field House. With CSU holding a 17-13 lead entering the final bout at heavyweight, Kelbly came through for the Vikings. After netting a takedown about two minutes into the opening period, it didn't take long for Kelbly to put his opponent on his back and clinch the win for Cleveland State. With the win, CSU improved to 9-5 on the season. George Mason:
Mason Splits Matches On Senior Day

Fairfax, Va.— The Patriots split two MAC Conference dual matches today at the Recreation Athletic Complex.  Between the two matches, Mason honored its five seniors; graduate student Anthony Lombardo and seniors Colston DiBlasi, Phil Stolfi and Justin and Ryan Yorkdale.  In the opening match, Old Dominion (9-9, 5-2) defeated the Patriots, 25-11, improving to 5-2 in the MAC. The Patriots (8-8, 3-5) edged Bloomsburg in the second match, 21-19, stopping a five-match conference slide, improving to 3-5 in the MAC.  Full Story...

McNally and Simpson Lead Flashes in Regular Season Finale
 
CLARION, Pa. – Cory Simpson and Andrew McNally posted major decision victories but Clarion won several close decisions to pull out the 30-8 victory over the Golden Flashes on Friday night in the Keystone State. Friday's dual started at 141 and Cory Simpson wasted little time getting things going for Kent State. Simpson got up early and was relentless against freshman Brayden Palmer. Simpson picked up his sixth win of the season, this one by a 13-2 major decision to put Kent State up 4-0. Full Story…

Huskies Post 19-16 Win Over Buffalo
 

DEKALB, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University wrestling team posted a dramatic come-from-behind victory over Mid-American Conference foe Buffalo in Victor E. Court Friday night. The Huskies (12-4, 7-2) scored a 19-16 victory over the Bulls in a contest that featured four overtime matches, three bonus point wins and went down to the final match.  With the match tied, 16-16, headed into the final bout of the night, reigning MAC West Wrestler of the Week Max Ihry scored the match-clinching victory when he defeated Nolan Terrance, 3-2, at 285.  Full Story…
 
Old Dominion:
Wrestling Monarchs Sink Midshipmen, 16-15 in Tie-Breaking Victory
 
ANNAPOLIS, Md. – In a match where both teams won five bouts by decision, the Old Dominion wrestling team (8-9, 4-2 MAC) came away with a hard-fought 16-15 victory over Navy (8-5, 3-1 EIWA) on Friday night, earning the tie-breaking win by way of criteria after collecting 41 total match points to Navy's 29. ODU's upset of the night that helped them leave the Naval Academy with a victory came from senior Timothy Young, who earned a 5-3 win by decision over No. 25 Jacob Koser. With the score even at 2-2 after the first period, Young broke away to take a slight lead with a takedown in the second frame and held a 4-3 advantage.  Full Story…

Wrestling Ends Final Road Trip With 25-11 Win Over George Mason

FAIRFAX, Va. - The Old Dominion wrestling team (9-9, 5-2 MAC) won seven out of 10 bouts and earned a 25-11 win over Mid-American Conference (MAC) foe George Mason (7-8, 2-5 MAC) in its final road contest of the regular season on Sunday afternoon. In the one ranked match of the afternoon, No. 18 Sa'Derian Perry took on No. 32 Alex Madrigal in the 141-pound bout. Perry took down Madrigal early in the battle, riding him for two minutes and 10 seconds in the first period. Neither combatant could score any points in the final two rounds, so Perry's takedown, along with the riding time accumulated, held up to give him the 3-0 win by decision over the ranked Patriot.  Full Story...

Rider:
Wrestling Defeats Clarion, 25-13, To Clinch MAC East Division Title

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Six Broncs won their matches and two seniors won by fall to push the Rider University wrestling team over MAC foe Clarion University, 25-13, Sunday morning at Alumni Gymnasium. With the win, the Broncs (11-3, 7-1 MAC) clinched the MAC East Division title, while the Golden Eagles are now 9-6 (6-4 MAC). Clarion claimed the first points of the dual at 125, but Rider would take two decisions at 133 and 141 to give the Broncs the lead. Richie Koehler (Middletown, NJ/Christian Brothers Academy) won by a 5-2 decision, while Peter Lipari (Byram Township, NJ/Bergen Catholic [Rutgers]) won similarly, 6-0, giving Rider a 6-4 lead.  Full Story...

Indiana Tops Cougars 24-11

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Kevin Gschwendtner set the pace early for SIUE wrestling but the Cougars dropped a road dual Sunday at Indiana 24-11. Gschwendtner, who had a technical fall win over Indiana's Diego Lemley to start the dual, joined Colton McKiernan and Justin Ruffin as individual winners. McKiernan and Ruffin each picked up three team points for their victories.  Full Story...
