Orem Lifts Wrestling To Second Straight Dual Victory Sunday; 20-19 Via Tiebreaker At Hofstra

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - Junior Shawn Orem (Pasadena, Md./Mount Saint Joseph) earned an 8-4 decision at 133 pounds in the final bout of the day to lift the Bloomsburg University wrestling team to a 20-19 victory via tiebreaker at Hofstra University on Sunday afternoon for the Huskies' second consecutive dual victory. Wrestling Posts First Dual Victory Of Season Friday Night In Dominant Fashion Over LIU

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University wrestling team picked up its first dual victory of the season on Friday night as it handled Long Island University (LIU), 40-3, at the Nelson Field House. The Huskies improved to 1-3 overall while the Sharks dropped to 2-14 on the season in its inaugural year at the Division I level. The Huskies won nine of the ten bouts on the evening and scored bonus points in eight of the victories - five major decisions, one technical fall, one fall, and one forfeit - en route to its first team win of the year and the program's first dual victory since a 38-3 win at Franklin & Marshall on February 9, 2019.  Full Story...

Buffalo:
Bulls Sweep Edinboro and Gannon to Extend Winning Streak to Four

EDINBORO, PA – The University at Buffalo wrestling team capped a successful weekend by sweeping duals against Edinboro and Gannon on Sunday afternoon. The wins extended UB's winning streak to four straight duals. In the opener against Mid-American Conference opponent Edinboro, the Bulls relied on their horses to defeat the Fighting Scots, 25-13. Derek Spann got UB on the board with a 19-0 technical fall over Tye Varndell. Young Bulls Cruise Past NCCC, 41-6

SANBORN, NY – Utilizing a young lineup, the University at Buffalo wrestling team cruised past Niagara County Community College, 41-6, on Friday night. In the win, Head Coach John Stutzman was able to get some important work and experience for some of his youngsters. After dropping the opening match, the Bulls rattled off nine straight wins, including four by pin. Jordan Reyes, wrestling at 133 for the first time this season, won a 20-6 major decision over Josh McCoy, for his second straight win.    Full Story...

Chippewas Drop Dual To NIU

DeKALB, Ill. – The Central Michigan wrestling team dropped a 19-12 decision to Northern Illinois on Sunday in a MAC dual at the Huskies' Convocation Center.  It was the 24th-ranked Chippewas' second dual loss of the weekend. CMU fell on Friday to fifth-ranked Virginia Tech, 20-16. It was NIU's first dual victory over the Chippewas since 2003.  Full Story...

Chippewas Fall Short Against 5th-Ranked Virginia Tech

MT. PLEASANT, Mich. -- The Central Michigan wrestling team won four matches, one by pin, on Friday in giving fifth-ranked Virginia Tech a battle before succumbing, 20-16, in a nonconference dual at McGuirk Arena.  Virginia Tech (5-0) won six of the first eight matches, two of them by major decision, in building a 20-7 lead with two matches remaining. The Chippewas (2-2) got a pin from Landon Pelham at 197 pounds and then a 3-1 victory from Matt Stencel (285) for the final margin. The pivotal matches came at 133 and at 157, where Virginia Tech took a pair of one-point wins.  Full Story...

Edinboro:
Fighting Scots Split Duals with Buffalo, Gannon to Open Up 2020

EDINBORO, Pa. – The Edinboro wrestling team wrestled for the first time in 2020 on Sunday, hosting the University at Buffalo in a Mid-American Conference dual, followed by a dual against Gannon. In between, UB and Gannon squared off.  UB would finish at 2-0 on the day, handing the Fighting Scots a 25-13 defeat, then beating Gannon 31-10. Edinboro would wrap up the day with a 39-0 win over Gannon. Edinboro is now 8-4 overall and 2-2 in the MAC after falling to Buffalo.  Full Story...

Huskies Top Central Michigan

DEKALB, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University wrestling team turned in an impressive performance as it posted a 19-12 victory over Central Michigan at Victor E. Court Sunday. The win was the Huskies' first over CMU since Jan. 31, 2003 when NIU earned a 16-15 victory over the Chippewas.  Full Story...

Ohio Wrestling Falls to No. 20 Oklahoma

ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio wrestling team (2-4, 0-1 MAC) suffered a 35-6 loss to No. 20/23 Oklahoma (2-2, 0-1 Big 12) this afternoon at the Convocation Center. The Sooners took eight of 10 bouts from the Bobcats, including three victories by fall and one by technical fall. Oklahoma led 23-0 after coming away with victories in the first five weight classes, with redshirt senior Christian Moody winning by decision at 125 pounds, sophomore Anthony Madrigal winning by technical fall at 133, redshirt sophomore Dom Demas winning by fall at 141, redshirt freshman Jacob Butler winning by decision at 149 and redshirt junior Justin Thomas winning by fall at 157.  Full Story...

Old Dominion:
Three Monarchs Place in David H. Lehman F&M Open

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Old Dominion wrestling team had three wrestlers place in the 2020 David H. Lehman F&M Open, hosted by Franklin and Marshall on Saturday. The three Monarchs who placed were Dean Drugac (184 lbs.), Jacob Bullock (285 lbs.) and Anthony Molton (125 lbs.), finishing in second, fourth and fifth, respectively.
