MAC Women’s Tennis Singles Player of the Week
Chantal Martinez Blanco, Buffalo – Senior, San Juan, Puerto Rico
Buffalo senior Chantal Martinez Blanco at No. 1 singles split her two matches this past weekend. On Friday, she dropped a 7-5, 6-2 decision to Rutgers’ number one player, but she bounced back with a straight-sets win on Saturday against Salma Ziouti of Drexel, 6-3, 6-2.

Sophia Geier, Akron – Senior, Burgebrach, Germany (Clavius Gymnasium)
Akron senior Sophia Geier at No. 1 singles went 2-0 on the road to remain undefeated this spring. In the win at Illinois State, the team captain defeated Veronika Golanova, 7-5, 6-4. In the sweep of IUPUI, Geier shut out Gabrielle Ochalik, 6-0, 6-0. Overall, Geier stands 18-4 in singles action and 10-1 in spring action, all at the No. 1 spot. She is pursuing her MBA.
Peyton Gollhofer, Ball State – Senior, Cartersville, Ga. (Laurel Springs Academy)
Ball State senior Peyton Gollhofer at No. 3 singles remained undefeated in dual action this spring Saturday with her straight set victory over Oakland University. The senior dominated over Dasha Artamonva, winning 6-2, 6-2 on court three to clinch the victory for the Cardinals. With the win, Gollhofer improved her overall spring record to 8-0.
MAC Women’s Tennis Doubles Team of the Week
Chantal Martinez Blanco, Buffalo – Senior, San Juan, Puerto Rico
Nikoleta Antoniou-Karademitrou, Buffalo – Freshman, Volos, Greece
Buffalo senior Chantal Martinez Blanco and freshman Nikoleta Antoniou-Karademitrou at No. 1 doubles went a perfect 2-0 in doubles action this past weekend with road match at Rutgers and Drexel. On Friday, the Bulls came away with a 6-0 shutout victory over the top squad from Rutgers out of the Big Ten as they helped Buffalo secure the doubles point against the Scarlet Knights. On Saturday, Martinez Blanco and Antoniou-Karademitrou won their match at first doubles against Drexel, 6-3. They are now 13-3 on the season.

Anna Uljanov, Akron – Sophomore, Schweinfurt, Germany (Olympia Morata Gymnasium)
Akron senior Sophia Geier and sophomore Anna Uljanov played at No. 2 doubles went 2-0 in road matches. In the win at Illinois State, the duo picked up a 6-2 win over Tara Damnjanovi and Laura Fitzgerald. In the shutout of Butler, Geier and Uljanov beat Kendal Wilby/Caroline McAuley, 6-2. In the sweep of IUPUI, they defeated Mariella Pessina and Christina Stankovic, 6-1. Overall, Geier and Uljanov stand 11-3 in doubles action and 8-3 this spring. Geier is pursuing her M.B.A., while Uljanov is a sports studies major.
Sarah Swiderski, Ball State – Senior, Wesley Chapel, Fla. (Saddlebrook Prep)
Victoria Sec, Ball State – Sophomore, New York, N.Y. (John McEnroe Academy)
Ball State senior Sarah Swiderski and sophomore Victoria Sec at No. 1 doubles played on the top court for the Cardinals against Oakland University this past weekend. Swiderski and Sec took down Ava Thielman and Darya Maltseva by a score of 6-3 helping Ball State to win the doubles point for the ninth time this season. Ball State has only lost one doubles point all spring.
