MAC Men’s Tennis Singles Player of the Week
Ethan Nittolo, Buffalo – Senior, Flushing, N.Y. (Townsend Harris High School)
Buffalo senior Ethan Nittolo at No. 1 and No. 2 singles won his two matches this past week, splitting time between first and second singles. On Friday at second singles, Nittolo defeated Cleveland State’s Matthew Terry, 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-1 and on Saturday he moved up to first singles in Buffalo’s win over Xavier as Nittolo faced Brett Winters and he scored a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 win. Nittolo leads Buffalo with 14 singles victories on the year.

Jannik Opitz, Western Michigan – Junior, Hildesheim, Germany (Josephinum Hildesheim)
Western Michigan junior co-captain Jannik Opitz at No. 1 singles improved to 8-2 in singles play with an exciting match-clinching win over Chad Kissell of Valparaiso. After dropping the first set 6-7 (3), Opitz stormed back to take the next two sets to guide the Broncos to victory, their third in a row.

Jannik Opitz, Western Michigan – Junior, Hildesheim, Germany (Josephinum Hildesheim)
Kennosuke Nouchi, Western Michigan – Junior, Kashima, Japan (Kashima Gakuen)
Western Michigan junior co-captain Jannik Opitz and junior Kennosuke Nouchi at No. 1 doubles helped the Broncos claim the doubles point during the 4-3 win over Valparaiso last Thursday, defeating Brandon Ancona / Kweisi Kenyatte 7-6, improving to 6-1 on the season.
