MAC Announces Men's All-MAC, All-Freshman & All-Defensive Teams

Cleveland, Ohio - Today the Mid-American Conference announced the All-MAC First Team, Second Team, Third Team and Honorable Mention selections for the 2018-19 season. The teams were voted on by the league's 12 head coaches. The league's All-Freshman Team and All-Defensive team were also announced today.

Buffalo's C.J. Massinburg and Nick Perkins were named to the All-MAC first team for the second consecutive season. Joining them is Bowling Green's Justin Turner, Kent State's Jaylin Walker & Toledo's Jaelan Sanford. Sanford was a second-team selection last season, while Walker was on the third-team a year ago. BGSU's Turner was an honorable mention selection last season as a freshman. 

The All-MAC Second Team features Northern Illinois’ Eugene German, who makes his second straight appearance on the team. German is joined by Buffalo's Jeremy Harris, Central Michigan's Larry Austin Jr., Eastern Michigan's James Thompson IV & Bowling Green's Demajeo Wiggins. 

All-MAC Third Team honors went to Ball State's Tayler Persons, Central Michigan's Shawn Roundtree Jr., Miami's Nike Sibande, Ohio's Jason Carter & Western Michigan's Seth Dugan. 
 
Rounding out this year's team as Honorable Mentions were Akron's Daniel Utomi, Eastern Michigan teammates Paul Jackson & Elijah Minnie, and Toledo teammates Nate Navigato & Marreon Jackson. 
 
The MAC All-Freshman Team was highlighted by two Bobcats -- Ben Vander Plas & Jason Preston. Kent State's Anthony Roberts, Miami's Mekhi Lairy & Toledo's AJ Edu rounded out this year's selections.
 
The All-Defensive Team was made up of Buffalo teammates Dontay Carutheres and Dovonta Jordan, as well as Central Michigan's Larry Austin Jr., Eastern Michigan's James Thompson  IV & Miami's Darrian Ringo. 

Men's First Round action takes place tonight as No. 5  Central Michigan hosts No. 12 Western Michigan (7:00 p.m. ET, ESPN+), No. 6 Eastern Michigan takes on No. 11 Ball State (7:00 p.m. ET, ESPN+), No. 8 Akron hosts No. 9 Miami (8:00 p.m. ET, ESPN+) & No. 7 Northern Illinois will battle No. 10 Ohio (9 p.m. ET / 8 P.M.
