Zips Sweep Cleveland State

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron women's tennis team closed out home non-conference play with a 7-0 win over Cleveland State on Wednesday afternoon at the LaTuchie Tennis Center. The Zips (14-3 overall) earned the doubles point over the Vikings (56 overall) with wins at No. 1 and 2. At No. 1, junior captain Rita Pedroso (Porto, Portugal) and sophomore Miruna Vasilescu (Ulm, Germany) defeated Klara Mrccela and Kate Avram, 6-2. Full Story...

Women's Tennis Tops Illinois State

NORMAL, Ill. – The University of Akron women's tennis team opened road play with a 6-1 win at Illinois State on Thursday afternoon at the Bloomington Tennis Center. The Zips (11-3 overall) earned the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and 2 as the Redbirds (7-5 overall) did not field a team at No. 3 due to injuries. At No. 1, junior captain Rita Pedroso (Porto, Portugal) and sophomore Miruna Vasilescu (Ulm, Germany) defeated Veronika Golanova and Jana Kustkova, 6-4. Full Story...

Zips Win Twice In Indy

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The University of Akron women's tennis team recorded two road wins on Saturday in Indianapolis. In the morning, the Zips swept Butler (8-7 overall), 7-0, at the Butler Tennis Bubble. In the evening, Akron (13-3 overall) also shut out IUPUI (2-8 overall), 7-0, at the West Indy Racquet Club. The Zips earned the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and 2.  Full Story...

Ball State:
Cardinals Top Oakland, 6-1

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team improved to 8-2 on the season after defeating Oakland University Saturday afternoon by a score of 6-1 at the Muncie YMCA. Ball State continues to find success this spring in doubles action, as the Cardinals took all three matches from Grizzlies in fairly quick fashion. Buffalo:
Women's Tennis Closes Weekend With Win Over Drexel


PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team had its two-match losing skid snapped on Saturday with a 5-2 win at Drexel.  The victory was the seventh of the year for Buffalo. The Dragons took the opening point in doubles action with wins at second and third doubles, but UB claimed the match at first doubles as senior Chantal Martinez Blanco and freshman Nikoleta Antoniou-Karademitrou won their match, 6-3.  Full Story...

Bulls Fall At Rutgers, 5-2

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - The University at Buffalo women's tennis team again claimed the doubles points against their Power 5 opponent on Friday, but the Bulls fell to Rutgers out of the Big Ten, 5-2. The loss drops UB to 6-3 on the season. Buffalo began the afternoon with a pair of doubles victories, capped off by the first doubles squad of senior Chantal Martinez Blanco and freshman Nikoleta Antoniou-Karademitrou, who shutout their opponents, 6-0.  The Scarlet Knights then won 6-3 at second doubles, but claimed the point at third doubles as junior Emel Abibula and freshman Hsin-Yuan Shih won 6-3. Full Story...

Miami:
Women's Tennis Falls At Indiana

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Back on the road for the first time in a few weeks, the Miami women's tennis team found the Indiana Hoosiers to be too much to handle on Saturday as the RedHawks fell 4-0. Miami slips to 2-7 with the loss, while the Hoosiers jump to 9-5. Indiana would start the match with a point in the doubles session after their teams of Whalen/Bernard and McKamey/Henry won by identical 6-2 scorelines. Rockets Fall To UT Arlington

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Toledo women's tennis team fell 4-1 to UT Arlington in Boca Raton, Fla. Wednesday afternoon. The Rockets started out strong in doubles action with wins on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts. Junior Dee Dee Leenabanchong/senior Kokoro Chishakidefeated Carla Pons/Momoka Horiguchi 6-4, and senior Thalita Rodrigues/freshman Kiersten Carlson defeated Nanaka Takeuchi/Lucia Natal 6-1. Full Story...

Women's Tennis Drops Decision To Charlotte

Boca Raton, Fla. - The Toledo women's tennis team fell to Charlotte 4-0 in Boca Raton, Fla. on Tuesday. The match was played in a clinch format. The Rockets had a rocky start, dropping the doubles point early.  In singles action senior Kokoro Chishaki and freshman Eileen Carney were in their third sets in when Charlotte clinched the match. Senior Thalita Rodrigues won her first set and was trailing 5-2 in the second before the match was called. Full Story...

Rockets Fall To Florida Atlantic

Boca Raton, Fla. – The Toledo women's tennis team fell, 4-1, to Florida Atlantic on Sunday morning in Boca Raton, Fla.  The Rockets started off strong, clinching the doubles point with wins on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts. Senior/freshman duo Thalita Rodrigues/Kiersten Carlson finished first on the No. 2 court, defeating Martina Kudelova/May Kimhi 6-2. Western Michigan:
Women's Tennis Falls At Utah


SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The Western Michigan women's tennis team concluded its spring trip to Utah with a 7-0 loss at the University of Utah Tuesday evening. The Broncos went down 1-0 after the Utes claimed the doubles point with wins on the first two courts. The home team then went on to take all singles matches to seal the win. Freshman Femke Tjon-A-Joe won the sole set for WMU, taking Emily Dush to a third set at the No. 3 spot. Full Story...

Broncos Open Road Trip With Loss To Weber State

OGDEN, Utah - The Western Michigan women's tennis team began its spring break trip to Utah with a 4-3 loss at Weber State University on Monday, March 4. The loss snaps the Broncos' four-match winning streak and moves their overall record to 8-5 on the season. After going up 1-0 with doubles wins on courts one and three from Bronco duos of Fevralev/Tiraspolsky & Slavova/Azcui, the home team responded in singles to take a 2-1 advantage with wins at the No. 1 and No. 4 positions.
