MAC Women’s Tennis Singles Player of the Week
Sophia Geier, Akron – Senior, Burgebrach, Germany (Clavius Gymnasium)
Akron senior Sophia Geier went 3-0 at No. 1 singles, winning all three matches in straight sets, and helped the Zips improve to 7-0 to open the spring slate. At Weber State, Geier beat Caitlin Herb, 6-3, 6-2. Against Utah State’s Hannah Jones, she registered a 6-4, 6-1 victory. In the win over Boise State, Geier defeated Wilhelmina Palmer, 6-3, 6-4. Overall, Geier stands 13-3 in singles action and a perfect 5-0 in spring action, all at the No. 1 spot. She is pursuing her MBA.

Peyton Gollhofer, Ball State – Senior, Cartersville, Ga. (Laurel Springs Academy)
Ball State senior Peyton Gollhofer at No. 3 singles started the match against Youngstown State strong as she took down the Penguins Lisa Khamassi in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1. Gollhofer’s win was match point for the Cardinals. Ball State defeated Youngstown State, 6-1. With the win, Gollhofer remains undefeated in dual action with a 4-0 record.
Polina Radeva, Bowling Green – Senior, Varna, Bulgaria (Nikola Yonkov Vaptsarov)
Bowling Green senior Polina Radeva at No. 1 singles rallied for a win against Indiana Tech's Vero Jimenez, winning 6-1 and 6-4. In the second set, Radeva fell behind 3-2, but proceed to win the next three games on her way to securing the victory and a point for the Falcons. This was Radeva's first match at No. 1 singles, giving her a combined record of 2-2 on the season and 1-0 at No. 1 singles.
Chantal Martinez Blanco, Buffalo – Senior, San Juan, Puerto Rico
Buffalo senior Chantal Martinez Blanco at No. 1 singles went 2-0 this past weekend. She won both of her matches in straight sets beginning on Friday with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Chhinda Som of Niagara. On Saturday she helped Buffalo to a 6-1 win over Siena with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Kylie Mullaney.
MAC Women’s Tennis Doubles Team of the Week
Sophia Geier, Akron – Senior, Burgebrach, Germany (Clavius Gymnasium)
Anna Uljanov, Akron – Sophomore, Schweinfurt, Germany (Olympia Morata Gymnasium)
Akron senior Sophia Geier and sophomore Anna Uljanov at No. 2 doubles went 1-1 in road matches and helpd the Zips to a perfect 7-0 record to open the spring slate. In the win at Weber State, the duo was tied 4-4 with Sara Parker and Pei-hsuan Kuo and did not finish once the doubles point was claimed. In the victory at Utah State, the duo dropped a 7-5 decision to Lucy Octave and Annaliese County. In the win over Boise State, they defeated Vanessa Timm and Wiktoria Nosek, 7-5. Geier and Uljanov are 6-1 in doubles action overall and 3-1 this spring. Geier is pursuing her MBA and Uljanov is a sports studies major.

Sarah Swiderski, Ball State – Senior, Wesley Chapel, Fla. (Saddlebrook Prep)
Victoria Sec, Ball State – Sophomore, New York, N.Y. (John McEnroe Academy)
Ball State senior Sarah Swiderski and sophomore Victoria Sec at No. 2 doubles remained undefeated this season after clinching the doubles point against Youngstown State. The duo defeated the Penguins Tamara Teufl and Claudia Barboza 6-2 Saturday afternoon. Sec and Swiderski helped the Cardinals earn a 6-1 victory over Youngstown State.
Paula Comella, Bowling Green – Senior, Ciutadella de Menorca, Spain (Ies Cteib)
Marharita-Sophia Tavpash, Bowling Green – Senior, Lviv, Ukraine (Lviv Linguistic Gymnasium)
Bowling Green senior Paula Comella and senior Marharita-Sophia Tavpash at No. 1 doubles captured a victory for the Falcons against Indiana Tech by a score of 6-1 en route to a 7-0 sweep for BGSU. They jumped out to an early lead and held it against Martina Borges and Dominique Michelet. For the duo, this is their second consecutive win on the season.

Nikoleta Antoniou-Karademitrou, Buffalo – Freshman, Volos, Greece
Buffalo senior Chantal Martinez Blanco and freshman Nikoleta Antoniou-Karademitrou at No. 1 doubles went a perfect 2-0 this past weekend as the Bulls remained undefeated on the year. On Friday, the duo had little trouble against Niagara, securing a 6-1 victory and then on Saturday they were responsible for clinching the doubles point against Siena.
