Akron:
Zips Tops Detroit, 6-1


AKRON, Ohio -- The University of Akron women's tennis team picked up two home wins on Saturday at the LaTuchie Tennis Center.  In morning action, the Zips handed Detroit Mercy (3-3 overall) a 6-1 loss.  In the night cap, Akron (10-3 overall) earned a 6-1 win over Binghamton (0-11 overall). Against Detroit Mercy, the Zips took the doubles point with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots.  Play at No. 1 stopped once the doubles point was clinched.  At No. 2, redshirt senior captain Sophia Geier and sophomore Anna Uljanov swept Iris Thioux and Sophie Torchello, 6-0.  Full Story...

Women's Tennis Drops Match At Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The University of Akron women's tennis team suffered its third loss of the season with a 7-0 shutout at No. 10 Ohio State (6-2 overall) on Wednesday evening at the Varsity Tennis Center.  The Buckeyes took the doubles point with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots.  Play at No. 1 stopped once the doubles point was clinched.  Full Story...

Ball State:
Cardinals Split Doubleheader

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State women's tennis team (7-2) split its doubleheader Sunday afternoon at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center. The Cardinals earned a 4-0 win over Western Kentucky but then fell 4-3 to the University of Indianapolis. The Cardinals opened the day capturing the doubles point over both opponents. The Ball State twosome of Sarah Swiderski and Victoria Sec improved to 7-1 on the season after going 2-0 today. Their 6-2, take down over Western Kentucky's Laura Bernardos and Lisa Friess, earned Ball State the doubles point over WKU. In the Cardinals' evening competition against UIndy, the No. 3 doubles tandem of Isabelle Dohanics and Peyton Gollhofer defeated the Greyhound's Alina Kislitskaya and Anna Valiaeva, 6-2. Full Story...

Bowling Green:
Women's Tennis Falls To Indianapolis, 5-2


BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University tennis program lost to the No. 10 ranked (Division II) Indianapolis Greyhounds on Saturday (Feb. 23) by a score of 5-2. The loss moves the Falcons record to 5-5 on the season with one more match left before conference play begins. As for the Greyhounds, they improve to 6-0 thus far. Paula Comella and Marharita-Sophia Tavpash both moved up on the all-time doubles list after coming away with the Falcons lone win in doubles play against the No. 4 ranked (Division II) doubles duo of Alexeeva and Novikova.   Full Story...

Falcons Defeats Wright State, 6-1

DAYTON, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University tennis program began the weekend with a win over Wright State University, for the second consecutive year, topping the Raiders by a score of 6-1. The win moves the Falcons record to 5-4 on the year while the Raiders drop to 3-6. The win is the Falcons' fourth this season where they have allowed the opponent to score just one point or less. Full Story...

Buffalo:
Bulls Fall To West Virginia

WILLIAMSVILLE, NY – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team played strong doubles on Saturday afternoon, but struggled in singles in a 6-1 loss to West Virginia at Miller Tennis Center.  The loss drops UB to 6-2 on the year. Buffalo swept through doubles action beginning at first doubles where senior Chantal Martinez Blanco and freshman Nikoleta Antoniou-Karademitrou won easily, 6-2.  UB won at second and third doubles by identical 6-4 scores.  Freshman Pia Schwarz and senior Arianna Paules Aldreytook the victory at second doubles and freshman Hsin-Yuan Shih and junior Emel Abibula won a third doubles.  Full Story...

Miami:
RedHawks Dominate Western Kentucky

HAMILTON, Ohio - The Miami University women's tennis team got back in the win column Saturday as the RedHawks dominated the visiting Western Kentucky Hilltoppers by a score of 5-0. Miami improves to 2-6 on the season, while WKU is left searching for its first win at 0-9. The RedHawks were able to pick up the doubles point for the first time this season when the team of Melati Devi and Lena Babunski clinched with a 6-2 victory on the second court. After a win by default at third doubles, this was enough to give Miami the 1-0 lead heading into singles. Full Story...

Huskies Edged By Cougars

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University women's team was edged by SIUE, 4-3 at the Edwardsville Y Sunday. After losing the doubles point, the Huskies (2-7) split the six singles matches. NIU trailed 3-0 after losing at Nos. 3 and 5 singles. However, the Huskies mounted a charge, winning the next three matches. Full Story...

Women's Tennis Falls At DePaul

ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University women's team suffered a 7-0 loss to DePaul at the Boylan Tennis Center Friday. The Blue Demons proved to be too much for the Huskies (2-6) as NIU lost the doubles point and all six singles matches. The Huskies did put up battles in the first sets at Nos. 3, 4 and 5 singles. Christy Robinson (Wellington, New Zealand/Samuael Marsden Collegiate School) was edged out 7-5 in her first set at No. 3 singles before falling 6-0 in the second. Full Story...

Toledo:
Rockets Cage Redbirds, 4-1

NORMAL, Ill. – Toledo women's tennis defeated Illinois State 4-1 in the Redbird Invitational championship match on Sunday in Normal, Ill. Toledo earned three two-set sweeps, and the final day of competition was highlighted by senior Thalita Rodrigues being named tournament MVP after her match. With the win, the Midnight Blue and Gold have established a five-match winning streak. The day started with the Rockets taking the doubles point for the first time in four matches. Freshman Kiersten Carlson/Rodrigues defeated their opponents 6-1 on the No. 2 court while freshman duo Christina Fuller/Eileen Carney defeated their opponents 6-3 on the No. 3 court.  Full Story...

Rockets Top Southeast Missouri State

Normal, Ill. – Toledo women's tennis edged out Southeast Missouri State, 4-3, today in day one of the Illinois State Redbird Invitational. The Rockets earned two singles sweeps in the first match of the tournament.  The Rockets dropped the doubles point early, despite junior Dee Dee Leenabanchong/senior Kokoro Chishaki's 6-3 win over Kseniya Zonova /Sneha Sinha on the No. 1 court.  Full Story...

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Western Michigan women's tennis team continued its hot streak inside West Hills Athletic Club on Sunday morning, defeating Valparaiso University 6-1. The Broncos improve to 8-4 overall on the season while moving their unbeaten streak to four matches. WMU also improves to 8-1 on its home court while the 8-4 mark for the Brown & Gold is the best start in since the 2015-2016 season in which the Broncos finished with a 19-8 record.  Full Story...

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Western Michigan women's tennis team improved to 7-1 on its home court, defeating the University of Dayton 7-0 on Friday, Feb. 22. Each Bronco victory in 2019 has come inside West Hills Athletic Club while owning a 7-4 overall record.  Full Story...
