No. 17 Mizzou Wrestling Downed by No. 14 Lehigh, 22-9
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – No. 17 Mizzou Wrestling lost its final competition at the South Beach Duals to No. 14 Lehigh, 22-9, Monday afternoon (Dec. 30). The loss drops the Tigers to 5-4 on the year and they finish South Beach with a 2-2 record in dual competition. Mizzou and Lehigh split the first six contests and things were knotted at 9-9 headed into the final four bouts. But, Lehigh won the last four to pull away and earn the win.

No. 17 Mizzou Wrestling Falls to No. 24 Cornell
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – No. 17 Mizzou Wrestling dropped a tough dual to No. 24 Cornell, 19-18, Monday morning (Dec. 30) in its third dual of the annual South Beach Duals. The Tigers led the dual 18-3 following a Peyton Mocco pin at 165 pounds, but lost the next four bouts, including a fall at 197 and a major decision at heavyweight, allowing Cornell to come all the way back to complete the win.

No. 17 Mizzou Wrestling Wraps Up Day One at South Beach by Downing Wyoming
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – No. 17 Mizzou Wrestling closed its action at day one of the South Beach Duals with a 22-10 win over Wyoming Sunday afternoon. The Tigers, coupled with their 24-8 win over Old Dominion earlier Sunday, are now 5-2 on the season and have won five straight duals. The Tigers are also 2-0 at the South Beach Duals, which will resume tomorrow morning (Dec. 30) at 10 a.m. as the Tigers take on No. 24 Cornell and No. 14 Lehigh. In all, Mizzou won seven of 10 bouts against Wyoming, including a bonus-point win from Wyatt Koelling at 197 pounds, as he earned a major decision over Stephen Buchanan, 10-1. The only weights that Mizzou lost were 133, 149 and heavyweight.

Mizzou Wrestling Downs Old Dominion, 24-8, in Opening Round at South Beach
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Mizzou Wrestling opened the South Beach Duals with a dominant 24-8 win over Old Dominion Sunday, Dec. 29. The Tigers won the dual's final seven bouts and Old Dominion was charged a team point for lack of mat control as Mizzou rallied from down 9-0 to claim the dual. The Tigers improve to 4-2 on the year and 1-0 in MAC competition. Mizzou got off to a slow start as Old Dominion claimed the morning's first three bouts, all via decision. Mizzou quickly righted the ship, thanks to its second-ranked grappler at 149 pounds – sophomore and 2019 All-American Brock Mauller. Mauller earned a hard-fought, 11-6 decision over ODU's Kenan Carter to improve to 12-0 on the year.

Huskie Quartet Advances at 57th Midlands Championships
HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. – Four Huskie wrestlers are still alive in the 57th Annual Ken Kraft Midlands Championships after the first day of competition at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates on Sunday. Gage Braun (197), McCoy Kent (149), Izzak Olejnik (165) and Bryce West (125) have advanced to Monday's consolation rounds.

Wrestling's Laney Advances to Semifinals at 57th Annual Midlands Championships
HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. -- Redshirt senior Shakur Laney (Canal Winchester, Ohio) of the Ohio wrestling team has advanced to the semifinals of the 141-pound championship bracket at the 57th Annual Ken Kraft Midlands Championships. Laney will match up against Iowa sophomore Max Murin in the semis on Monday (Dec. 30), with action getting underway at 1 p.m. ET. The winner will wrestle for the title at 8 p.m. E. Laney came away victorious in all three of his bouts.

Ruffin Places Seventh At Midlands
HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. - Justin Ruffin stood on the medal stand representing SIUE wrestling at one of the most prestigious regular season tournaments in the country Monday, placing seventh at the 2019 Ken Kraft Midlands Championship. Ruffin left no doubt in his first match of the day with a 18-2 technical fall over Wisconsin's Drew Scharenbrock at 157 pounds. He made it to the final eight before being stopped by Central Michigan's Logan Parks in a consolation match. Ruffin earned seventh with a medical forfeit over South Dakota State's Cade Devos.

Ruffin, Williams Advance to Day Two at Midlands
HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. - SIUE's Tyshawn Williams and Justin Ruffin are alive in the consolation bracket at the 2019 Ken Kraft Midlands Championships. Both wrestlers were defeated in Sunday night's quarterfinals. Williams dropped a 4-3 decision to Northern Iowa's Max Thomsen at 149 pounds. Ruffin, the No. 5 seed at 157 pounds, was edged by fourth-seeded Anthony Artalona, of Penn, 3-1.
