Bulls Dominant In Win Over George Mason
BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo wrestling team earned its first Mid-American Conference dual win of the season in dominant fashion, beating George Mason, 26-10, at Alumni Arena on Sunday afternoon. The Bulls won five of the final six matches, including three matches with bonus points, to pull away for the victory. Jordan Reyes kicked things off by winning his first career dual in the 125 bout. Trailing, 4-3, entering the third period, the true freshman got an escape and a takedown to help pull away for the 7-4 decision.

Wrestling Knocks Off Lock Haven For First MAC Dual Win
CLARION, Pa. – Thanks in part to a trio of wins in the middle weights and a pair of bonus point wins, the Clarion wrestling team scored a significant win on Saturday with a 20-16 decision over Lock Haven. The Golden Eagles (2-3, 1-2 MAC) defeated the Bald Eagles for the first time since the 2013-14 season and won their first ever Mid-American Conference bout in the process. Clarion seized the momentum with a run of three straight wins in the middle weights, taking the bouts between 149 and 165 pounds to take the lead on Lock Haven. Nationally-ranked Brock Zacherl was warm to the task against the Bald Eagles' Brock Port, beating him by an 11-3 major decision to put his team ahead 7-6. Avery Shayfollowed with what could be considered an upset at 157 pounds, beating FloWrestling's 18th-ranked Alex Klucker by a 7-1 decision.

Edinboro Wins Two of Three Duals at Mountaineer Quad Behind Varndell, Oliver
MORGANTOWN, WV – The Edinboro wrestling team picked up wins in two of its three matches at the Mountaineer Quad on Sunday afternoon at the West Virginia Coliseum. The Fighting Scots opened with a 26-12 victory over Hofstra, then disposed of VMI, 32-6. They would suffer a 22-9 loss to West Virginia to wrap up the day. The Fighting Scots conclude the 2019 portion of their season with a 7-3 record.
Tye Varndell and Jacob Oliver were three-time winners. After not being able to wrestle in Friday's dual against George Mason, Varndell, a true freshman, won three decisions at 133 lbs. to improve to 12-5 on the season. Oliver won three times at 174 lbs., although one was a forfeit win vs. Hofstra. After winning by decision vs. VMI, he rallied late for a 16-12 decision vs. West Virginia to boost his record to 13-4. Six other wrestlers won twice – Nate Hagan (141 lbs.), Tyler Vath (149 lbs.), Peter Pappas (157 lbs.), Derek Ciavarro (165 lbs.), Cody Mulligan (184 lbs.), and Jon Spaulding (hwt.). Vath won twice by technical fall.

Patriots Fall To Buffalo
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Patriots (6-3, 2-2 MAC) fell to the Buffalo Bulls in the final match of the three-match road swing. The Bulls jumped out to a 6-0 lead winning the first two matches. At 125, Mason's Talha Farooq had a 4-3 lead entering the third period, but the Bulls Jordan Reyes got an escape and a takedown to take the 7-4 decision. Freshman Josh Jones lost, 7-2, to No. 15 Derek Spann at 133.

Wrestling Edged By Clarion
CLARION, Pa. – The Lock Haven University wrestling team got four wins on the night including crucial late-match tech falls from Jared Siegrist (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) and No. 13 Corey Hazel (Spring Mills, Pa./Penns Valley), but it wasn't enough as the Bald Eagles (5-2, 1-1 MAC East) fell to host Clarion University (2-3, 1-1 MAC East), 20-16, in a thrilling Mid-American Conference (MAC) Eastern Division dual. Siegrist and Hazel's tech falls came at 174 and 184 pounds, and LHU also got wins from DJ Fehlman and No. 18 Kyle Shoop at 133 and 141, respectively.
