Ball State's Elvbo, BGSU's Kennedy Named Players of the Week

MAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Julia Elvbo, Ball State, MF 
Senior  Lit, Sweden (STORSJOGYMNASIET)  
Elvbo was heavily involved in Ball State's 2-0 weekend with the game-winning goal in double overtime at Buffalo, and assisting on the game winner at Akron. On Sunday, the senior lifted the Cardinals over the Bulls by scoring the game winner in 2OT with less than two minutes remaining. She volleyed a cross from teammate Sam Kambol to beat the keeper and seal the victory in the 109th minute. Just two days earlier, Elvbo fed an assist to Tatiana Mason who scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win at Akron. Elvbo's play currently has the Cardinals on a three-game winning streak. For the week, Elvbo finished with one goal and one assist on five shots and three shots on goal.

Maureen Kennedy, Bowling Green, Defender

Kennedy again made major contributions at both ends of the field as the Falcons won two more matches to remain undefeated in the MAC. Kennedy led BGSU with four points on the weekend, and was involved in the scoring of the game-winning goal in both matches. She had the primary assist on Nikhita Jacob’s GWG in a 3-1 victory at Kent State Friday night. Then, on Sunday, Kennedy had a goal and an assist less than two minutes apart in a 3-1 win at Ohio. She had an assist on Chelsee Washington’s game-opening goal, then scored a goal of her own just 1:50 later. At the other end of the field, Kennedy blocked an Ohio shot on the goal line for a ‘team save’ in the second half. Kennedy now has career totals of 14 goals, 27 assists and 55 points as a Falcon. She sits in 12th place on the career goals list, and is seventh in points. Kennedy ranks second in career assists, and is just five shy of tying the school record in that category. She now has six GWG as a Falcon, deadlocking her for seventh in school history. This season, she ranks second on the team in both goals (four) and points (11), and is third on the Falcons with three assists.

Libby Harper, Akron, Goalkeeper     
Freshman, Hatfield, England(Townsend Church of England School)          
Harper continues to impress in between the posts for Akron as the anchor of the Zips defense. In week two of league play, Harper allowed just one goal, made 5 saves and registered her third shutout of the season in 180 minutes of work. Harper limited a potent Ball State offense to just one goal while making two saves before notching a clean sheet against the RedHawks in a 2-0 victory for the Zips and made three saves. Harper lowered her GAA to 0.85 and increased her saves total to 20. 

Sydney Worthy, Akron, Forward      
Sophomore, Groveport, Ohio (Madison Christen HS)         
Worthy scored her second goal and second game-winning goal in the matter of one week as well on the season. Against Miami, Worthy headed the eventual game-winning score in the 32' of the match off a corner kick. In the match, Worthy recorded three shots and three shots on goal. 
 
Nikki Cox, Bowling Green, Forward
R-Junior, Granville, Ohio (Granville)
Cox scored three points as the Falcons won two more games over the weekend to improve to 4-0-0 in the MAC. Cox scored the opening goal of the match on Friday night as BGSU picked up a 3-1 win at Kent State. Then, on Sunday, she had an assist as the Falcons again won by a 3-1 final, this time at Ohio. On the season, Cox leads the Falcons with five goals and 14 points, and she is tied for the team lead with four assists. Cox, in her second year at BG, now has a total of 33 points in 34 matches as a Falcon, with 13 goals and seven assists. The goal total ranks her 13th on the BGSU career list.

Zoie Reed, Central Michigan, Goalkeeper   
Senior, Woodbridge, Conn. (Amity Regional)          
Reed posted another standout weekend for Central Michigan, allowing just one goal in two games. On Sunday, against Northern Illinois, Reed recorded her fourth shutout of the season. Reed made four saves, including one stop on a 1-v-1 opportunity for NIU early in the game that kept the Huskies off the scoreboard. She also made four saves vs. Western Michigan on Friday, helping the Chippewas remain even with the Broncos until late in the game. Reed, who has played every available minute in goal this season for CMU, boasts a sterling .510 goals against average and 90.2 save percentage.

Marle Bringard, Central Michigan, Midfielder        
Senior, Midland, Mich. (Midland)
Bringard proved clutch again Sunday in CMU's win over Northern Illinois. She scored unassisted in the 34th minute, slotting a shot home to the lower left of goal, providing the Chippewas with a 1-0 lead. All of Bringard's team-high four goals have been game winners this season. She also leads the team in points with nine.
 
Lindsey Shira, Eastern Michigan, Defender
Junior, New Baltimore, Mich. (Anchor Bay)
Shira had a career weekend, helping Eastern Michigan claim two conference wins over Northern Illinois, Oct. 4, and Western Michigan, Oct. 6. The junior defender accounted for half of the Eagles’ six goals during the two matchups. The New Baltimore, Mich. native scored the game-winning goal in both contests, recording a 70th-minute goal against the Huskies and 83rd-minute goal against the Broncos to seal the wins. Over the weekend, Shira set a new career-high in goals scored in a game (2) and points in season (9), while also playing the entirety of both matches.
 
Amanda Cripps, Eastern Michigan, Midfield/Forward        
Freshman, Bradford, Ontario (Trinity Catholic)       
Cripps helped Eastern Michigan to two conference wins over Norther Illinois, Oct. 4, and Western Michigan, Oct. 6. The freshman tacked on an insurance goal for the Eagles in the 79th minute against Northern Illinois, while scoring the equalizer in the 70th minute against Western Michigan. In addition, Cripps was four-of-seven for shots on goal for the weekend.

Vital Kats, Kent State, Midfielder     
Junior, Toronto, Ontario (Northview Heights Secondary)  
Kats scored two goals in one match and registered five points for the week. She began her week with an assist in Kent State's game on Friday against Bowling Green. On Sunday, she netted two goals in the Golden Flashes 3-0 win over Toledo. She scored goals in the 28th and 53rd minutes to push Kent State in front. Kats also picked up an assist on KSU's final goal of the match. It was the third multi-goal match of her career and Kats has scored a point in each of the last five matches.
 
Izzie Vaccari, Miami, Goalkeeper     
Sophomore, Dublin, Ohio (Coffman)
Vaccari notched her first collegiate shutout in Friday night's road 1-0 victory over Buffalo. The sophomore transfer stopped nine shots in the process of picking up the clean sheet. She made seven more saves at Akron on Sunday.

Olivia Winnett, Miami, Midfielder    
Senior, Brentwood, Tenn. (Brentwood)       
Winnett netted the game-winning goal in the RedHawks, her second game-winner of the season as Miami opened the weekend with a road victory at Buffalo, 1-0. Winnett's three goals this season lead the team and are one short of her career high.
 
Sydney Malham, Ohio, GK     
Junior, Nashville, Tenn.        
Junior goalkeeper Sydney Malham led the Bobcats defensively this past weekend. Overall, Malham allowed three goals on 10 shots on goal, while making seven saves in 180:00 minutes in net. On Friday against Toledo, Malham recorded her first shutout of the season, playing all 90 minutes, while not allowing a goal and making five saves in the 4-0 win.
 
Alivia Milesky Ohio, Midfielder
Senior, Plain City, Ohio         
Milesky led the Bobcats offense this past week, helping them to a 1-1 weekend. Overall, Milesky recorded six shots, with four on goal, scoring two goals and recording one assist for five total points to help the Bobcats. On Friday against Toledo, Mielsky was a force, recording one goal on two shots with one on goal. She recorded one gaol that came unassisted in the 57th minute. She then recorded an assist on Ohio's first goal of the game, helping Ohio to a 4-0 shutout victory over the rockets. On Sunday, Milesky recorded the Bobcats lone goal of the game that came in the 82nd minute. Overall, Milesky recorded four shots with three on goal.
