The Central Michigan women's basketball team broke from tradition by wearing maroon uniforms at home on Saturday. Other than that, it was pretty much standard operating procedure – with a few milestones added in for good measure -- for the defending Mid-American Conference champions.

Kent State 71, Eastern Michigan 64 // Box Score
Freshman Asiah Dingle scored 13 of her career-high 29 points in the final period as Kent State earned a 71-64 victory over Eastern Michigan in the Mid-American Conference opener for both teams Saturday at the M.A.C. Center. Playing in the first conference game of her collegiate career, Dingle showed that she is ready for the bright lights. She made plays all over the floor to finish with nine rebounds, five steals and three blocked shots, setting a new career-high in each category.

Northern Illinois 82, Miami 71 // Box Score
The Northern Illinois University women's basketball team had six players score in double-figures Saturday as the Huskies opened Mid-American Conference play with an 82-71 win over the Miami Redhawks at the NIU Convocation Center. It is the Huskies' fifth consecutive win and seventh at home this season. "It's important to establish home court advantage, especially in the league because the road can be ruthless," said head coach Lisa Carlsen.

Behind junior guard Amani Burke's (Columbus, Ohio) first career double-double and 21 points from sophomore guard Cece Hooks (Dayton, Ohio), the Ohio Women's Basketball team (12-0, 1-0 MAC) earned a come-from-behind overtime win over Buffalo (8-4, 0-1 MAC), 74-71, on Saturday afternoon inside Alumni Arena. "I think they showed a lot of maturity (in the second half), I think we grew up a little bit," head coach Bob Boldon said.

Toledo 65, Ball State 58 // Box Score
Sophomore Nakiah Black scored a season-high 19 points to lead Toledo to a 65-58 victory over Ball State on Saturday in the Mid-American Conference opener for both schools before 3,473 fans in Savage Arena. With the win, the Rockets improve to 9-3 overall, 1-0 in the league. Black connected on 7-of-13 shots from the field, including a season-best 5-of-7 from three-point range, to surpass her previous-best effort of 18 points against Stony Brook on Dec. 18. Junior Mariella Santucci added 14 points and five assists, including four free throws in the final minute that helped seal the home victory.

Western Michigan 84, Bowling Green 82 // Box Score
The Western Michigan women's basketball team opened Mid-American Conference play with a thrilling 84-82 victory at Bowling Green State University Saturday, Jan. 5 at the Stroh Center. For the third consecutive season, WMU comes out victorious in the conference opener, improving its overall record to 7-5 overall with a season-high 84 points.
