Buffalo:
Bulls Earn Tough Win At Old Dominion


NORFOLK, VA – The University at Buffalo wrestling team earned a hard-fought 19-12 victory at Old Dominion on Sunday afternoon to secure its first MAC win of the season. Trailing 12-10 in the dual, the Bulls won the day's final three matches to pull out the victory. After dropping the first match, Derek Spann quickly tied the dual with a 10-4 decision over Killian Cardinale at 133. Central Michigan:
Wrestling Responds With Big Win


EDWARDSVIILE, Ill. – Central Michigan recorded three pins and won two other matches by major decision on Sunday as the Chippewas defeated Southern Illinois Edwardsville, 32-10, in a Mid-American Conference dual meet. The Chippewas won seven matches in improving to 3-4, 2-2. They bounced back from a 32-15 loss at fifth-ranked Missouri on Saturday.  CMU gots pins from Matt Stencel (285 pounds), Drew Hildebrandt (125) and Deven Perez (133), while the Chippewas' Drew Marten(141) and Dresden Simon (149) scored wins via major decision.  Full Story...

Chips Fall At Missouri

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Good start, good finish. In between, not enough for the Central Michigan wrestling team to pull off the upset. Fifth-ranked Missouri won seven matches, recording a pin or a technical fall in five of them, in handing the Chippewas a 32-15 Mid-American Conference dual-meet loss at the Tigers' Hearnes Center. The highlights for CMU came in the opening bout and the last. Chippewa sophomore Drew Hildebrandt posted a 4-2 overtime victory in the 125-pound match, the first of the dual, and then sophomore Matt Stencel closed the meet with a pin at 285.  Full Story...

Kent State:
Flashes Fall At Ohio, 24-12


ATHENS, Ohio – Redshirt freshman heavyweight Spencer Berthold gave Kent State early momentum Friday night, but Ohio took back The Grudge Match trophy with a 24-12 home victory at the Convocation Center.  After a first period pin by Berthold, the Bobcats put together six straight wins. Berthold used a single leg shot to put Zack Parker on the mat and began setting up a cradle.  By the 1:27 mark, Berthold rolled Parker to his back on the edge of the mat, but kept one foot in-bounds to get the fall.  Full Story...

Missouri:
Tigers Top Central Michigan, 32-15

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Fifth-ranked Mizzou Wrestling earned its eighth consecutive conference championship and second consecutive MAC regular season title after defeating Central Michigan, 32-15, Saturday (Jan. 19) at Mizzou Arena. With the win, Mizzou is now a perfect 13-0 on the season and has now won four of the last five MAC regular season championships while extending its current win streak to 33 consecutive duals. Dating back to 2014, Mizzou has won 70 of its last 71 duals. Mizzou is 6-0 in MAC duals this season. With the regular season title, Mizzou has won either a conference tournament or regular season title in eight consecutive years dating back to its final season in the Big 12. Tigers Extend Win Streak

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Fifth-ranked Mizzou Wrestling extended its winning streak to 32 consecutive duals as it earned a top-15 win by toppling No. 14 Northern Iowa, 29-12, Thursday night at the Hearnes Center. Mizzou is now 12-0 this season and has not lost a dual since Feb. 12, 2017, which coincidentally was against UNI as Mizzou avenged that loss Thursday. Mizzou earned two wins over ranked opponents in the dual win, including senior 174-pounder No. 4 Daniel Lewis picking up a pin of eighth-ranked Taylor Jujan. Freshman Brock Mauller upset the nation's No. 8 wrestler at 141 and John Erneste picked up his sixth pin of the season at 133 to highlight the dual. Full Story...

Northern Illinois:
Huskies Take Two At The Citadel


CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Northern Illinois University wrestling team picked up a pair of dominating victories at The Citadel Duals at McAlister Field House Saturday afternoon. The Huskies (5-6, 1-2) posted a 33-7 victory over Hofstra and scored a 42-3 win over the host Bulldogs. Eight NIU grapplers went undefeated on the day. Both duals started at 165 and both started with wins by Kenny Moore (San Diego, Calif./Hoover), Brit Wilson (Mexico, Mo./Mexico) and Will Feldkamp(Dexter, Mich./Dexter). Wilson and Feldkamp each recorded pin fall victories in their respective matches. Full Story...

Ohio:
Bobcats Drop Dual At Virginia


CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- The Ohio wrestling team (3-4) suffered a 29-9 setback to host Virginia (10-6) in a non-conference dual meet this afternoon at Memorial Gymnasium. Redshirt junior Zac Carson (Akron, Ohio) gave the Bobcats a 3-0 lead to open up the match by edging sophomore Jake Keating in a 14-13 decision at 157 pounds. Carson, who is ranked 19th at 157 according to FloWrestling and 20th according to both InterMat and TrackWrestling, improved to 14-5 on the season -- including a 5-1 mark in dual meets.  Full Story...

Bobcats Take Grudge Match Over Kent State

ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio wrestling team (3-3, 1-1 MAC) earned its first Mid-American Conference victory of the 2018-19 season as it toppled Kent State (6-11, 1-3 MAC), 24-12, in the annual grudge match between the two rivals this evening at the Convocation Center. The matchup began at 197 pounds, and sophomore Aaron Naples (Brunswick, Ohio) tallied a takedown in the first period en route to a 3-0 win by decision over junior Shane Mast. The Golden Flashes grabbed a 6-3 lead, though, when redshirt freshman Spencer Berthold came away with a fall in 1:37 at 285. Full Story...

Old Dominion:
Monarchs Fall To Buffalo


NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion (5-5, 3-2 MAC) wrestling team lost just their second MAC dual of the season on Sunday afternoon as they fell to Buffalo (8-4, 1-2 MAC) by a 19-12 final score. ODU collected four individual victories. Michael McGee opened the dual with a 13-6 victory over Kyle Akins to pick up three points for ODU. McGee remains undefeated in duals with a 9-0 mark. Buffalo answered at 133 pounds, where Killian Cardinale dropped a 10-4 decision to Derek Spann. Full Story...

Cougars Fall To Central Michigan


EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - SIUE wrestling won three matches Sunday in its final Mid-American Conference home dual of the season, dropping a 32-10 meet to visiting Central Michigan. Sergio Villalobos got the Cougars off to a strong start with a scrappy 12-11 victory over Jordan Atienza at 184 pounds.  Full Story...
